Ítem Acceso abierto Burnout syndrome in gynecologists and obstetricians at Hospital San José, 2013(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-07) Sifuentes Valenzuela, Silvana; Arispe Alburqueque, Claudia MilagrosObjective: To determine the prevalence and sociodemographic factors of burnout syndrome in gynecologists and obstetricians at the San José Hospital, 2013. Methodological Design: Observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional research. The population consisted of a total of 51 professionals. The main variables included sex, age, marital status, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, personal accomplishment, and the presence of burnout. Results: The gynecologists with burnout syndrome represented 33%, while 24% of obstetricians had it. Regarding emotional exhaustion, gynecologists showed high (50%), medium (27.77%), and low (22.22%) levels, while obstetricians had high (33.33%), medium (21.21%), and low (45.45%) levels. In the depersonalization dimension, gynecologists showed high (55.55%), medium (38.88%), and low (5.55%) levels, while obstetricians exhibited high (51.51%), medium (15.15%), and low (33.33%) levels. The personal accomplishment dimension showed that 33.33% of gynecologists had a high level, 27.77% a medium level, and 38.88% a low level; for obstetricians, 33.33% had similar results in all three levels. Conclusions: The presence of the syndrome in gynecologists was 33%, and 24% in obstetricians. In the emotional exhaustion dimension, gynecologists reached the highest level. In the depersonalization dimension, both gynecologists and obstetricians showed high levels. In the personal accomplishment dimension, gynecologists had a low level, while obstetricians had similar results across all three levels.
