Publicación Acceso abierto Relación entre maloclusión, perfil de tejido blando y volumen orofaríngeo: Estudio en tomografía Cone Beam en peruanos de 18-50 años, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-24) Diaz del Olmo Morey, Fernando Luis; Benites Castillo, Santiago MoisesThe relationship between soft profile, malocclusion and the dimension of the pharyngeal spaces has been studied for many years, the largest number of references in cephalometric radiographs and for 20 years with greater detail in large-field Cone Beam tomography, finding as controversial the great variability of results with representative association in certain characteristics and in others without correlation. The objective of the research was to determine if there is a relationship between malocclusion, soft tissue profile and oropharyngeal volume with Cone Beam tomography in Peruvians aged 18-50 years. Quantitative approach study, observational design, applied and cross-sectional type; In a population of 1,000 radiographs of individuals and a sample of 169 tomographies from a health-providing institution, a data collection form was used. Data were analyzed using Pearson and Spearman correlations depending on their normal distribution. All data were analyzed at 95% significance with the statistical program SPSSv24. Results of the 169 radiographs of patients, 55 (32.5%) correspond to the male sex and 114 (67.4%) correspond to the female sex, the average age was 28.3 ± 7.5 years. There is a negative and very high correlation between malocclusion and soft profile (ρ=-0.832; p<0.000), there is a linear correlation between malocclusion and oropharyngeal volume (p=0.026) and no correlation was found between soft profile and volume oropharyngeal (ρ=0.133; p=0.116). It is concluded that, if there is a correlation between malocclusion, soft tissue profile and oropharyngeal volume with Cone Beam tomography in Peruvians aged 18-50.
