To systematize the evidence about the effectiveness of alternative and complementary medicine in pediatric patients with otitis media. Material and Methods: Systematic Review, the search has been restricted to systematic reviews with full text which have been selected for having been subjected to a critical reading, using the GRADE evaluation to identify their degree of evidence. Of the 10 international systematic reviews found, it is observed that 70% (7) correspond to systematic reviews, 10% (1) trials, 10% (1) randomized study and 10% (1) randomized study. Results: It is observed that when selecting Systematic Reviews, the results found were that 90% of the evidence shows that alternative medicine in pediatric patients with otitis media is effective and 10% is not effective. Conclusions: It is concluded that 9/10 of the articles found demonstrate that the use of alternative and complementary medicine is effective in the treatment of pediatric patients with otitis media and that only 1/10 does not demonstrate effectiveness.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the pneumococcal vaccine in reducing otitis media in children under 5 years old.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-08) Ordoñez Anaya, Gloria Milagros; Vasquez Ascencio, Amada Katherine; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, OrianaObjective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of the pneumococcal vaccine in reducing otitis media in children under 5 years of age. Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, analyzing and summarizing the results of various studies. It is a very important part of evidence-based nursing due to its meticulous methodology, through the search for key studies that allow answering specific questions about clinical practice. The search was conducted prioritizing full-text articles, which underwent critical reading, using the GRADE system to determine the strength of recommendation. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, with 80% (8) from the United States and 20% (2) from studies conducted in England and Australia. Of the total articles reviewed, 20% (2) were systematic reviews, 20% (2) were randomized controlled trials (RCT), 50% (5) were cohort studies, and 10% (1) were case-control studies. Results: 100% of the articles reviewed (n=10/10) demonstrated the effectiveness of the pneumococcal vaccine in reducing otitis media. Conclusions: The implementation of the pneumococcal vaccine has been progressive in different regions, and the studies conducted are of varied methodologies, which prevents drawing a general conclusion. However, all studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of the pneumococcal vaccine in reducing otitis media.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of tympanoplasty in patients with otitis media(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-02) Esteban Molina, Suly Brenda; García Chávez, Geraldine Nadir Elizabeth; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: analyze and systematize evidence on the effectiveness of tympanoplasty in patients with otitis media. Materials and methods: the research was quantitative, its design being a systematic review whose population was made up of 15 scientific articles having as a sample 10 studies that were published in different scientific databases: Mediciego, Sciencedirect, Scielo, Pubmed, Elsevier, Epistemónikos, Ebsco and for its analysis the grade method was used where the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendation was evaluated. Results: we have that of 100% of the scientific articles, 20% correspond to Chile, 10% Colombia, 10% USA, 10% Mexico, 10% Cuba, 10% Qatar, 10% Cyprus, 10% to the United Kingdom and finally 10% to China respectively. Regarding the study designs, we can mention that 70% correspond to retrospective, 10% meta-analysis, 10% prospective and 10% cohort respectively. Conclusions: it was concluded that 100% of the studies show the effectiveness of tympanoplasty in patients with otitis media; the correction of tympanic perforations in both children and adults caused by this pathology, reduction in postoperative morbidity, hearing improvement, anatomical recovery, comfort for the patient and their self-esteem.
