Ítem Acceso abierto Influence of the interactive educational technique in oral health to parents with autistic children in special education centers(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-12-06) Maldonado Valencia, Yeny Nery; Garavito Chang, Enna LucilaMethodology: This was an observational, descriptive, and longitudinal study with an applied research level. The Wilcoxon non-parametric test was used to compare knowledge levels before and after the intervention. A pre-test/post-test design was applied to a single group of 78 parents, who were evaluated with a questionnaire on oral health. Afterward, an informational session was conducted, followed by the same questionnaire to assess knowledge retention. Results: Before the intervention, 62 parents scored a grade of C (79.5%), 14 scored a B (17.9%), and 2 scored an A (2.6%), with no parents achieving an AD grade (0%). After the educational session, 14 parents scored a B (19.2%), 58 scored an A (74.4%), and 2 achieved an AD grade (6.4%), with no parents scoring a C (0%). The data were analyzed using SPSS with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, yielding a p-value of 0.000, which is less than the significance level (α = 0.05). Conclusion: The interactive educational technique significantly and effectively improves parents' understanding of oral health.
