Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of lidocaine alkalinization and nerve impulse blockade for intraoral pain in patients attending the Cedix Lima 2023 dental center(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-06) Burga De la Cruz, Leyssi Fabiola; Marroquín García, Lorenzo EnriqueThe objective of this study was to determine the effect of lidocaine alkalinization and nerve impulse blockage for intraoral pain in patients attending the Cedix dental center, Lima 2023. The study was quantitative, quasi-experimental, and prospective, where two groups of 34 patients each were formed using the formula for the difference of means. The observation technique and a data collection form were used, where the onset time was recorded, and the pain level was measured using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results showed that the average onset time for alkalinized lidocaine to take effect in patients was approximately 91.2 seconds. Furthermore, 91.2% of the patients experienced a mild level of pain during the intraoral nerve block. On the other hand, in the control group, where non-alkalinized lidocaine was administered, the mean onset time was 133.12 seconds. Additionally, 55.9% reported moderate pain, with the majority experiencing this level. It was concluded that with a p-value < 0.001, there is a highly significant difference in pain perception between both groups. Therefore, it can be affirmed that alkalinization of lidocaine with bicarbonate is associated with a significant reduction in pain perception during intraoral dental procedures.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between psycho-emotional states and pain perception in patients receiving treatment at the dental clinic of the Norbert Wiener University(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-04-12) Moreno Prieto, Romina Scarlet; Sotomayor León, Gino AurelioThe sample consisted of 385 patients who received dental treatment at the University Norbert Wiener Dental Clinic from May to July 2022. Each patient was explained the entire procedure and the implications of the research and signed an informed consent. Before the dental treatment, the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21) questionnaire was administered. After the treatment, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was completed. Method: Once completed, the data were processed using Stata v.17, and tables were created in Excel for descriptive analysis with tables and graphs. Results: The study found that a higher number of patients presented depression before the dental treatment (96.88%). It was also found that the age group of 18 to 28 years showed the highest levels of mild anxiety and mild stress related to pain. The age group of 29 to 40 years showed the highest level of mild depression related to pain. Males showed the highest levels of depression and stress related to pain, while females showed higher levels of anxiety and mild stress related to pain. Conclusion: A relationship exists between psychoemotional states and pain perception, as patients who showed normal levels of depression, anxiety, and stress perceived pain as mild (34.29%-30.39%-32.73%).
