The objective of this research is to determine the prevalence of dental development abnormalities in number and position in patients aged 5 to 15 years with unilateral cleft lip and palate, treated at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital, Lima, 2017. This was an observational, retrospective, cross-sectional, and descriptive study. The population consisted of 44 panoramic radiographs taken from February 2016 to April 2017. The sample was probabilistic and was calculated using a formula, resulting in 40 panoramic radiographs. The collected data included: sex, age, location of the unilateral cleft lip and palate, and dental development abnormalities in number and position. The data entry and statistical analysis were performed using SPSS version 21. The results showed that 100% of patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate had dental development abnormalities. It was observed that the prevalence was higher in males (77.5%) and that the left side was the most prevalent location for the unilateral cleft lip and palate (52.5%). The study concluded that every patient with unilateral cleft lip and palate presents some form of dental development abnormality.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-04-04) Córdova Borda, Heydi Fanny; Mezzich Gálvez, Jorge Luis
The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of partial edentulism according to the Kennedy classification in patients aged 30 to 59 years at the “Imágenes Estomatológicas” EIRL center, Lima, 2017. The sample was obtained using the minimum sample size formula for finite populations, consisting of 150 panoramic radiographs of partial edentulous patients from the “Imágenes Estomatológicas” EIRL center. The evaluation was visual, and the findings were recorded in a data collection form that was created and validated by expert judgment. The results were processed using SPSS version 23 and Excel to generate frequency tables. The results showed that 32% of the population had a partial edentulism prevalence of Kennedy Class I, 26.7% had Class II, 39.3% had Class III, and 2% had Class IV. Additionally, in the upper jaw, 23.9% had Class I, 32.6% had Class II, 36.9% had Class III, and 6.6% had Class IV. In the lower jaw, 35.6% had Class I, 24% had Class II, 40.4% had Class III, and 0% had Class IV. Regarding gender, 30% of males had Class I, 24.3% had Class II, and 45.7% had Class III, while 33.75% of females had Class I, 28.75% had Class II, 33.75% had Class III, and 3.75% had Class IV. The prevalence of partial edentulism according to Kennedy Class I presented modification I at 47.9%, Class II modification III at 50%, and Class III modification I at 47.5%. It was concluded that the most frequent Kennedy classification was Class III, both in the upper and lower jaws, and it was also more frequent in both male and female patients.

Location of the mentonian foramen evaluated in digital panoramic radiographs of adult patients Lima 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-23) Luque Ccahuin, Lizzbet Vanessa; Mezzich Gálvez, Jorge Luis
The purpose of the study was to determine the location of the mental foramen evaluated on digital panoramic radiographs of adult patients in Lima, 2021. The study was quantitative, observational, and descriptive, where 217 digital panoramic radiographs were assessed using the EZDent-i program. The technique applied was observation, and the data collection instrument was a data sheet. Regarding the location of the mental foramen in the horizontal direction, the majority of patients had position 3 (59%) on the right side, as well as on the left side (60.8%), meaning that the mental foramen is located between the first and second molars. In the vertical direction, position C was found in 87.6% on the right side and 88.9% on the left side, meaning it is located apically to the line connecting the apices of the premolars. Regarding the horizontal location of the mental foramen on the right side, the majority were women who presented position 3 (31.8%), and on the left side, it was the same (33.2%), meaning that the mental foramen is located between the first and second molars. The majority of patients were between 31 and 50 years old and had position 3 (47%) on the right side and (46.5%) on the left side. It was concluded that the most common location of the mental foramen is between the first and second premolar.

Pneumatization of the maxillary sinus and partial edentulous evaluated in panoramic radiographs. Lime 2019.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-01-26) Portal Ardiles, Natalia Angélica; Mezzich Gálvez, Jorge Luis
The objective of this study was to determine the pneumatization of the maxillary sinus in partially edentulous posterosuperior patients evaluated through panoramic radiographs. Methodology: The population consisted of 172 panoramic radiographs, and the sample obtained using the finite population formula was 120, which allowed for results to be obtained using Chi-square and Pearson's Correlation. The following conclusions were drawn: In partially edentulous patients in the upper posterior sector, there is a higher percentage of grade 4 pneumatization, 42.9%. The most common number of missing teeth in partial edentulism is 5 teeth (33.3%), followed by 4 teeth (26.7%) and 3 teeth (25.8%). A higher degree of pneumatization is associated with the loss of 4 and 5 teeth in the majority of radiographs evaluated, with 44.4% to 50%. A statistical relationship was found (p<0.05). The degree of pneumatization is higher in females. A moderate positive and significant correlation (R=0.29, p=0.001) was found between the degree of pneumatization and the number of missing posterosuperior teeth. The hypothesis (H) was tested and confirmed: There is a direct relationship between maxillary sinus pneumatization and partially edentulous posterosuperior evaluated in panoramic radiographs. The null hypothesis (0) was rejected.
