Effectiveness of LED phototherapy compared to conventional phototherapy to accelerate the reduction of bilirubin levels in neonates with jaundice
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Ellizca Medrano, Keyla Beatriz; Ucharima Huallcca, Cinthya Jackelin; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, Oriana
Objective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of conventional phototherapy compared to LED phototherapy in reducing bilirubin levels in neonates with jaundice. Materials and Methods: A systematic review synthesizing the results of the research. The search was restricted to full-text articles, and the selected articles underwent critical reading using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the level of evidence. Of the 10 studies, 80% (8/10) were controlled clinical trials, and 20% (2/10) were systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Results: Of the total articles analyzed, 30% of the studies demonstrate that LED phototherapy was significantly more effective in treating hyperbilirubinemia compared to conventional phototherapy, and 70% show that there is no significant difference between the use of LED and conventional phototherapy in reducing bilirubin, as the results obtained during phototherapy treatment for neonates with jaundice were similar, providing the same chances of total serum bilirubin reduction. Conclusions: The research reviewed shows that 3 studies demonstrate that LED phototherapy is more effective than conventional phototherapy in reducing bilirubin in neonates, and 7 studies demonstrate that there is no significant difference in bilirubin reduction between the two types of phototherapy.

Knowledge and Practice of Suctioning Secretions by Nurses in Intubated Patients in the Intensive Care Unit of a Hospital in Chincha, 2022.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-11) Tasayco Huasasquiche, Adriana Andrea; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo Amado
The intensive care unit admits patients with various pathologies, making it common for several invasive procedures to be performed. One of the routine activities carried out by nurses is the aspiration of secretions, with the goal of removing accumulated bronchial secretions from the respiratory tract and maintaining airway patency. This procedure requires that the nurse has the necessary knowledge and proper technique. The objective of this research project is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice of secretion suction by nurses in intubated patients in the intensive care units of a hospital in Chincha, 2022. The study has a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental design, and cross-sectional nature. The study population consists of 36 nurses working in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Chincha. Data collection techniques and instruments: The techniques used will be surveys and observation. A questionnaire will be administered to the nurses, with informed consent, consisting of 16 questions, and a checklist with 19 items, which will be filled out according to observations. The results will be collected, processed, and coded in an Excel database and will be tabulated and analyzed using the SPSS 2022 software.

Knowledge and practice on the administration of oxygen therapy by nursing professionals in the neonatal intensive care unit.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-08-21) Pintado Sovia, Maria Mercedes; Fernández Rengifo, Werther Fernando
Premature births are increasing worldwide. According to statistical sources, around 15 million births occur before 37 weeks of gestation. Furthermore, births before 33 weeks pose a particular risk, especially in developing countries. The objective of this study is to 'Determine how the level of knowledge is related to the practice of oxygen therapy administration by nursing professionals in the neonatal intensive care unit.' The hypothetical-deductive method will be used, with a quantitative approach because the described variables will be measurable and represented through statistical tables. The research type is applied, and a correlational, non-experimental, cross-sectional design will be used. The sample will consist of 80 nurses from the intensive care unit of Alberto Sabogal Sologuren Hospital. Two validated instruments will be used: a questionnaire for the first variable and an observation guide for the second variable. Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 26 will be used to process and analyze the data. Additionally, the non-parametric chi-square test will be applied for hypothesis testing, aiming to relate two variables. The results will be presented in tables and/or graphs.

Level of Knowledge and Practices on the Administration of Inotropes by Nurses in the Neonatal ICU of a Public Hospital in Lima, 2022.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-06-26) De La Cruz Gutierrez, Vania Isabel; Mori Castro, Jaime Alberto
This study, titled 'Level of Knowledge and Practices on the Administration of Inotropes by Nurses in the Neonatal ICU of a Public Hospital in Lima – 2022,' aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices regarding the administration of inotropes by nurses in the Neonatal ICU of a public hospital in Lima, 2022. The care of patients is the essence of the nursing profession, and this implies a scientific, philosophical, moral, and legal commitment. However, there may be situations that influence the work of nursing professionals, which is the focus of this research. Materials and Method: This is an applied study with a quantitative, correlational approach, non-experimental design, and cross-sectional nature. The total population included 30 nurses from the unit under study. Two instruments were used: a questionnaire and a checklist.

Nursing knowledge and practices in the prevention of pressure ulcers in the intensive care unit of a Hospital in Tocache, 2024
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-05-05) Jaquehua Baez, Sandra Maira; Montoro Valdivia, Marcos Antonio
People who spend prolonged periods in intensive care units are at a higher risk of developing pressure ulcers. These injuries arise due to continuous pressure, moisture, and friction as a result of immobility. These complications are more frequent in patients with mobility restrictions or those confined to a bed in the ICU. Objective: "To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice regarding the prevention of pressure ulcers among nurses in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Tocache, 2024." Methodology: The study will use the hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative and applied approach, adopting a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. For data collection, two validated instruments will be used: a questionnaire and an observation guide. Additionally, Spearman's statistical formula will be applied to analyze the correlation between the studied variables. The results will be presented in statistical tables accompanied by their corresponding interpretation.
