Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of omega-3 supplementation on stress reactivity of biomarkers of cellular aging in middle-aged adults(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-05-18) Rodriguez Villanueva, Ruth Zurama; Inocente Camones, Miguel AngelAging is the gradual loss of the potential of our cells and organism. Cells are in constant renewal throughout our lives. When cells begin to fail in the renewal process, new cells stop replicating identically to the mother cell, undergoing mutation. The present secondary research, titled "Critical Review: Omega-3 Supplementation and Stress Reactivity of Cellular Aging Biomarkers in Middle-Aged Adults," aimed to analyze the impact of omega-3 supplementation on stress reactivity and telomerase. The clinical question was: What is the effect of omega-3 supplementation on cortisol stress reactivity and telomerase in middle-aged patients? The evidence-based nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was conducted in the PubMed and Cochrane databases, finding 236 articles, of which 5 were selected. These were evaluated using the CASPE critical reading tool, with the final selection being the randomized clinical trial titled "Omega-3 supplementation and stress reactivity of cellular aging biomarkers: an ancillary substudy of a randomized, controlled trial in midlife adults," which has an evidence level of A I and a strong recommendation grade, according to the researcher’s expertise level. The critical comment concluded that nutritional intervention with omega-3 prevents cellular aging in middle-aged adults.
