(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-27) Paredes Casablanca, Alexis Arnaldo; León Yauri, Yelena Milagros; Caldas Herrera, Emma
Descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective study whose objective was to determine whether Prescription Analysis and Interpretation generates economic savings in the Satellite Pharmacy of Critical Care Areas of the Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo. This was carried out through the evaluation of prescriptions from hospitalized patients in the emergency observation wards (n = 301), identifying non-dispensed medicines and medical devices, which—excluding products with zero stock—were quantified. These quantities and costs were recorded in a data collection instrument that established three dimensions of savings: prescriptions with duplications, prescriptions not aligned with treatment, and excessive prescriptions. Finally, the data were processed using IBM SPSS Statistics Base 22.0 to estimate proportions and means. Results indicate that Prescription Analysis and Interpretation in the Satellite Pharmacy of Critical Care Areas generated economic savings amounting to 1,996.82 soles in the sample, with an estimated 16,652.39 soles for a population of 2,510 prescriptions.

Both were scored using a Likert scale with values of 1–5 for service quality and 1–4 for user satisfaction. Data was processed using EXCEL and IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results showed a service quality of 73.9% and a patient satisfaction of 49.75%. A relationship was found to exist between the two variables, with a moderate, direct, and significant correlation between service quality and user satisfaction. The Spearman's correlation coefficient was 0.495, with a p-value less than the significance level (p=0.0010 < 0.05). In conclusion, there is a direct link between the service quality provided and the satisfaction of users who visit the Suarez-Angamos Hospital III.

Quality of care is a central issue in the evaluation of health services and has become increasingly relevant in public health. User satisfaction is based on subjective judgments and is only valid if perceived by the users themselves, which highlights the importance of regularly assessing it, especially in health care centers. The present study aimed to determine the quality of user care at the emergency pharmacy service of Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital in Lima in February 2014. An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional design was applied, using the SERVQUAL model to evaluate perceptions and expectations in five dimensions: reliability, responsiveness, empathy, assurance, and tangibility. Dissatisfaction levels were high across all dimensions, with the lowest rate of dissatisfaction (60.7%) found in the responsiveness dimension. It was concluded that user dissatisfaction is high, and quality control measures should be adopted to enhance service provision and improve patients’ quality of life.

The determination of suspected adverse drug reactions showed the highest incidence (86.7%) in December 2017. The number of dispensing errors recorded was 0.96% during September, where most involved only one error per prescription detected by the UDDDS. Furthermore, 9.22% of patients under pharmacotherapeutic follow-up presented drug-related problems. During the study period, a cost saving of 5.37% was observed. It was concluded that the evaluation of the study population demonstrated reliability and completeness, making it possible to assess the functioning of the UDDDS.
