Commute distance and life quality in textile workers of Santa Rosabgallery, Lima 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-17) Cantoral Díaz, Katerine Doris; Diaz Mau, Aimee Yajaira
The textile industry has become very important over time for economic growth in developing countries, increasing the number of people working in this sector, which becomes vulnerable due to prolonged exposure. Studies report the vulnerability to respiratory health problems in this sector, affecting their quality of life, which worsens with sedentary behavior and lack of physical activity. However, there is a need for further studies on this topic and to generate preventive measures for this sector. Each variable is measured by an instrument: the distance walked will be assessed using the 6-minute walk test, a key test for measuring functional capacity in patients. The second variable, quality of life, will be measured with the SF-12 questionnaire. Based on the results obtained, the relationship between these two variables will be established in textile workers. This will provide updated scientific information for future research.

Disability and quality of life of older adults with lumbalgia who attend a private clinic, San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-15) Cárdenas de La Cruz, Lucía Edith; Cautín Martinez, Noemi Esther
Obesity is considered a public health problem defined as the abnormal accumulation of fat that can be harmful to health. This condition has increased drastically over the past forty years. In 2014, over 1.9 billion adults aged 18 and older had overweight, with more than 600 million having obesity. The prevalence of obesity in adults over 18 years old is 39% for overweight and 13% for obesity. Physical inactivity is one of the determining factors for this health issue. The highest prevalence of inactivity is found in women worldwide (31.7% women and 23.4% men). The regions with the highest prevalence of physical inactivity are Latin American and Caribbean countries (39.1%), followed by Western countries (36.8%) and Asian countries (35.7%). In developed countries, physical inactivity is twice as high as in developing countries (36.8% vs. 16.2%). This study seeks to correlate physical activity levels and obesity using the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and BMI formula, in a population of 200 people undergoing weight and height measurements.

Eccentric and loaded strengthening exercises associated with education in pain and disability in patients with rotator cuff tendinopathy of the Hospital II EsSalud Huancavelica, 2023
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-06) Carhuaz Güere, Cyntia Nathalie; Arrieta Córdova, Andy Freud
Among musculoskeletal injuries, shoulder pain is the third most frequent cause, with rotator cuff tendinopathy being the most common cause. It involves pain, weakness, and functional limitations, and it is known that 50% of individuals with this condition experience symptom recurrence and persistent pain in the long term. Currently, physiotherapy treatment includes physical exercises, which have shown improvements in shoulder pain and function, with eccentric exercises, weight loading, and closed-chain exercises being particularly effective. However, it is important to consider that there is a negative association between psychological factors, such as fear of pain, pain catastrophizing, patient expectations, and worries, and the intensity of pain, quality of life, and even treatment outcomes.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-05) Lazo Trujillo, Patricia; Pisfil Fajardo, Jenny Maribel; Fernández Rengifo, Werther Fernando
Objective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of respiratory physiotherapy in postoperative patients who have undergone thoracic surgery. Materials and methods: Among the 10 articles systematically reviewed on the effectiveness of respiratory physiotherapy in preventing pulmonary complications in postoperative thoracic surgery patients, high-quality and high-strength articles were selected from Scielo, PubMed, and Dynaed, all within the healthcare field. The studies include systematic reviews (20% - 2/10), randomized clinical trials (50% - 5/10), quasi-experimental studies (10% - 1/10), cohort studies (10% - 1/10), and case-control studies (10% - 1/10). These studies were conducted in Spain (30%), Australia (20%), Italy (10%), Japan (10%), Iran (10%), the United Kingdom (10%), and Sweden (10%). Results: The review of these scientific articles shows that 80% of them support the effectiveness of respiratory physiotherapy in postoperative thoracic surgery patients. They highlight the importance of respiratory physiotherapy and its benefits in preventing postoperative pulmonary complications, reducing hospital stays, and decreasing healthcare costs. Conclusions: 80% of the studies revealed the effectiveness of respiratory physiotherapy through respiratory training exercises, which reduce the presence of pulmonary complications in postoperative thoracic surgery patients. It is thus determined that respiratory exercises before and after surgery are crucial. However, 10% of the articles using incentives such as an incentive spirometer did not present significant evidence of effectiveness, and 10% indicated that respiratory physiotherapy was not necessary.

Effects of respiratory physiotherapy on peak expiratory flow in post-COVID 19 patients in a hospital in Chanchamayo, 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-18) Solis Loyola, Sussy Diana; Diaz Mau, Aimee Yajaira
People who developed moderate to severe COVID-19 tend to develop long-term illness with persistent symptoms, also known as sequelae; the most prominent sequelae were respiratory. Various studies validate respiratory physiotherapy as the recommended treatment to improve lung function in post-COVID-19 patients, as it includes techniques that improve pulmonary ventilation and respiratory and peripheral muscle strength. Peak expiratory flow is an index that allows us to measure the condition of large airway pathways, determining changes in pulmonary function after respiratory physiotherapy.

De Quervain tendinopathy, functional capacity and grip strength in the administrative staff of the Regional Hospital Clinical Surgical Teacher “Daniel Alcides Carrión” – Huancayo 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-30) Gaspar Gonzales, Elizabeth; Bejarano Ambrosio, Miriam Juvit
According to the WHO, industrialized nations show that one-third of lost working days are related to health issues, which are a significant factor contributing to MSDs. Health problems represent 59% of occupational diseases, compared with more common work-related issues such as those reported by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work. Musculoskeletal disorders like pain occur at the radial edge of the wrist and base of the thumb due to thickening and entrapment of the short extensor and long abductor tendons, associated with repetitive movements caused by excessive computer use when typing. Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a disorder affecting wrist and hand function, especially the thumb, due to repetitive movements in office workers typing on computers. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study. To measure Quervain's tenosynovitis, the Finkelstein test will be used for functional capacity; the Sollerman test for grip strength will be measured using a dynamometer.

Síndrome de hipermovilidad articular y su influencia en la capacidad pulmonar en los niños de la ONG Corazón Guerrero, Lima 2025
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-09-02) Paco Apaza, Abel Denilsson; Rosas Sudario, Milagros Nohely
