Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of cleaning with iodopovidone in pleurodesis for infection reduction(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-08-04) Avalos Uceda, Katherine Luisa; La Rosa Tadeo, Karina Solansh; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: To analyze the effectiveness of povidone-iodine cleansing in patients with pleurodesis to reduce infection. Materials and methods: The study was quantitative and the design was a systematic review, the population was 12 articles, the sample was 10 scientific articles published and indexed in scientific databases, the instrument was a search in the databases: Scielo British Medical Journal, PubMed, Epistemoniko and EBSCO, for the evaluation of the articles the GRADE system was used which evaluated the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendation. Results: It was evidenced that the use of povidone-iodine in pleurodesis only left patients with a little burning and pain in the application area, beyond that it did not cause deaths or serious problems, therefore, its use is safe and reliable. Conclusions: It was concluded that 90% of the studies show that povidone-iodine cleansing in pleurodesis was effective because there were no deaths, the patients had few complications and their adverse effects were scarce and 10% show that povidone-iodine cleansing in pleurodesis was not effective because adverse events were more frequent.
