Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge, attitudes and practices related to diabetes mellitus in 10th cycle students and graduates of the dental school of a private university in Metropolitan Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-11) Obregon Jara, Percy Ronald; Bouroncle Sacín, Jorge EnriqueThe objective of this study was to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to diabetes mellitus in 10th-cycle students and graduates from the School of Dentistry of a private university in Metropolitan Lima in 2021. An observational, prospective, and cross-sectional study was conducted with 108 students and graduates of both sexes. The results showed regular knowledge in 53.70%, insufficient knowledge in 33.30%, and sufficient knowledge in 13.00% of the respondents. A positive attitude was observed in 82.40%, followed by a negative attitude in 17.60% of the evaluated sample. Additionally, moderate practice was found in 60.20%, followed by good practice in 24.10% and poor practice in 15.70%. A significant relationship was found between knowledge and attitudes, as well as between knowledge and practices related to diabetes mellitus. In conclusion, it was determined that 10th-cycle students and graduates exhibited regular knowledge, positive attitudes, and moderate practices, showing the existence of a relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding diabetes.
