    Efficacy of pralidoxime in the treatment of intoxication by organophosphorus pesticides in adult patients who come to the emergency

    Objective: Systematize the efficacy of pralidoxime in the treatment of organophosphate pesticide poisoning in adult patients who present to the emergency department. Materials and methods: This research study is of a qualitative and quantitative nature, utilizing the following databases: Pubmed, Springer Link, Cochrane Database. Results: A search was conducted for 10 scientific articles, of which 6 (60%) are systematic reviews, 3 (30%) are experimental studies, and 1 (10%) is a descriptive case study. Sixty percent of the articles conclude that pralidoxime is not effective in the treatment of organophosphate pesticide poisoning in adult patients who present to the emergency department, 30% show evidence of the efficacy of pralidoxime in the treatment of organophosphate pesticide poisoning in adult patients, and 10% of the articles are inconclusive. Conclusions: It is concluded that 6/10 articles demonstrate that pralidoxime is not effective in the treatment of organophosphate pesticide poisoning in adult patients who present to the emergency department. 3/10 articles show evidence of the efficacy of pralidoxime in the treatment of organophosphate pesticide poisoning in adult patients, and 1/10 concludes that there is no comparison of efficacy.
