Publicación Acceso abierto Problemas relacionados con medicamentos en pacientes adultos mayores hospitalizados en el Hospital Cayetano Heredia. Lima 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-09) Anci Alvarado, Angheli Cristina; Caldas Herrera, EmmaThe study aimed to analyze medication-related problems in hospitalized elderly patients at the Cayetano Heredia Hospital. The methodology used for this research was deductive with a quantitative approach, applied in nature, and it was a non-experimental, observational, cross-sectional, and prospective study. The population consisted of 307 pharmacotherapeutic follow-ups of hospitalized elderly patients at the Cayetano Heredia Hospital, with a sample of 170 patients. The technique employed was data collection, which was validated; the study evaluated medication-related problems (MRPs) in three dimensions: Need, Effectiveness, and Safety. The results of this research showed that, among the 170 elderly patients, 187 MRPs were identified, with a proportion of 1.1 MRPs per patient. By dimension, the results showed 57.8% MRPs related to Need, 17.6% to Effectiveness, and 24.6% to Safety. It was concluded that the most frequent MRPs in the Need dimension were MRP1, in the Effectiveness dimension were MRP3, and in the Safety dimension were MRP5. Additionally, it was found that MRPs were more prevalent among male patients, and untreated diagnosis in the Need dimension was most frequently associated with mild anemia.
