Lime – 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-23) Cespedes Rivera, Katherine Sharon; Arauzo Sinchez, Carlos JavierThe objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge regarding the use of mouthwashes during dental care as a preventive measure against COVID-19 among students at UPNW. The research was applied, with a cross-sectional descriptive design, and the sample consisted of 237 dental students enrolled from the fifth to the tenth cycle during the 2021-2 period, who were taking preclinical and clinical courses. Data collection was conducted through a virtual form consisting of 20 questions in total, divided into 4 topics, each with 5 questions. The questionnaire was subjected to expert judgment for validation as an instrument and, subsequently, a pilot test where a reliability coefficient of 0.80 was obtained. The results showed that 79.7% of the dental students had an average level of knowledge about the use of mouthwashes during dental care as a preventive measure against COVID-19. Furthermore, a statistically significant difference was found between the level of knowledge about mouthwashes and the age of the students (p=0.007). However, no statistically significant difference was found between the level of knowledge about mouthwashes and the sex of the students (p=0.586), although the female sex scored better than the male sex. In conclusion, a large percentage of students showed an average level of knowledge about the use of mouthwashes during COVID-19, and regarding age and sex, they also showed an average level of knowledge.
