Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of using protective devices to reduce radiation levels in operating room personnel(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-07-22) Montoya Gutierrez, Glendy; Viena Saavedra, Romina Paola; Gómez Gonzales, Walter EdgarObjective: To evaluate the effectiveness of using protective gear to reduce radiation levels among operating room staff. Materials and Methods: This is a systematic review of 9 articles, no older than 10 years, from descriptive, prospective, and randomized trial designs. The search was restricted to full-text articles, and the selected studies underwent critical reading, using the GRADE system to assign the strength of recommendations. Results: Of the articles analyzed, 90% (8/9) confirm the effectiveness of using protective gear such as aprons, hats, collars, and lead glasses to reduce radiation levels among operating room staff during interventional surgeries. Of these, 60% (4/9) demonstrated the effective use of hats, and 40% (2/9) demonstrated the effectiveness of lead glasses as essential protective gear to reduce radiation. Conclusions: Protective gear is effective in reducing radiation levels among operating room staff during interventional surgeries.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of using protective devices to reduce radiation levels in operating room personnel(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-07-22) Montoya Gutierrez, Glendy; Viena Saavedra, Romina Paola; Gómez Gonzales, Walter EdgarObjective: To evaluate the effectiveness of using protective gear to reduce radiation levels among operating room staff.
