The study was quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational, with a sample of 76 nurses working in the emergency service. Materials and methods: A quantitative approach will be used, with a descriptive, cross-sectional design. The instrument used to measure coping capacity will be Callista Roy's coping and adaptation process measurement scale, consisting of 47 Likert scale questions divided into 5 dimensions. According to the Ministry of Health (MINSA), in 2018, 65.4% of outpatient consultations at the National Institute of Mental Health were for patients aged 20-44 years, with women being more frequent, although 55.8% were men who sought treatment for schizophrenia, making it the most common diagnosis in that area. Objective: To determine the relationship between caregiver burden and coping strategies in primary caregivers of patients with schizophrenia at a hospital in Lima, 2020. Materials and methods: This is a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study of the causal-correlational type. Data collection will involve a survey using the Zarit caregiver burden scale and the Coping Strategy Inventory (CSI).
