The objective of this research was to determine the impact of family sociodemographic factors on oral health-related quality of life in children aged three to five years from public educational institutions in the district of Pachacámac, 2017. The study was observational, prospective, cross-sectional, and descriptive. The sample consisted of 182 children aged three to five years, who underwent oral cavity examinations using a dental record sheet to assess dental problems such as caries, dentoalveolar trauma, and malocclusion. The child's caregiver was given the ECOHIS (Early Childhood Oral Health Impact Scale) and a questionnaire to evaluate sociodemographic characteristics of the family members. The results showed a statistically significant relationship (p>0.000) between early childhood caries and quality of life in children aged three to five years. Additionally, when correlating the sociodemographic factors of the caregiver with the ECOHIS, a significant relationship was found between home ownership (0.016) and the child's age (0.047). The frequency of dental caries was 92.3%, dentoalveolar trauma 2.2%, and anterior malocclusions 5.5%, indicating that in early childhood, the impact on the quality of life of the children deteriorates. It was concluded that the impact of oral health conditions and sociodemographic factors on the quality of life in children aged three to five years is statistically significant concerning the child’s age and home ownership.

The objective of this study was to determine the impact of oral problems on the quality of life of schoolchildren. This was an observational, prospective, cross-sectional, and analytical study, with a randomly selected systematic sample. The sample consisted of 274 children aged 11-14 years enrolled in public educational institutions in Pamplona Alta, San Juan de Miraflores, 2016. The complete version of the CPQ 11-14 questionnaire, consisting of 37 questions, was used. Statistical analysis was performed using the independent t-test (p < 0.05), ANOVA (p < 0.05), and the Chi-Square test (p < 0.05). The total CPQ score was 40.89 ± 17.34, with 97.81% showing a very high dental caries index (8.18), with greater impact in 14-year-olds. Additionally, 17.52% had dental trauma, with a predominance in males and 13-year-olds, and 48.18% had a need for orthodontic treatment, with both sexes being affected and a predominance in 12 to 13-year-olds. In conclusion, there was a high prevalence of dental caries, low prevalence of dental trauma, and a need for orthodontic treatment. Oral problems did not negatively influence the quality of life of the schoolchildren.

Evaluation of the Gohai and Ohip-14 as instruments to measure the quality of life in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus who attend the Endosalud specialized clinical center, Lima-2021.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-11-02) Roque Salazar, Brizeth Yasmin; Girano Castaños, Jorge Alberto
Objective: To evaluate the GOHAI and OHIP-14 as instruments to measure the quality of life in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus attending the specialized clinical center Endosalud, Lima, 2021. Methodology: A basic deductive method, with a quantitative approach of observational research, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 162 elderly patients. Results: When evaluating the OHIP-14 and GOHAI questionnaires, a good quality of life was observed with the GOHAI questionnaire, with 87.6% (142 respondents), and OHIP-14 with 6.2% (10 respondents). However, regarding regular quality of life, the OHIP-14 questionnaire showed a higher value of 32.1% (52 respondents), while the GOHAI questionnaire showed 10.5% (17 respondents). On the other hand, for poor quality of life, the OHIP-14 questionnaire showed a higher value of 64.7% (100 respondents), compared to the GOHAI questionnaire, which showed 1.9% (2 respondents). Conclusion: The use of the GOHAI instrument is recommended for future studies to maintain a constant evaluation, control quality of life, and oral health condition in elderly individuals, with a focus on diabetes mellitus and a multidisciplinary approach.

Impact of self-esteem on the need for orthodontic treatment and quality of life related to oral health in children aged 11 to 14 years from the I.E. San Pedro Santísima Trinidad de Lurín, 2019
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-07) Silva Tumba, Jordan; Céspedes Porras, Jacqueline
Dental malocclusion is not a disease but a deviation from the aesthetic norm that requires orthodontic care, as it impacts physical, social, and psychological functioning, which are part of quality of life. It is understood that better aesthetics can lead to psychosocial improvement. Objective: To determine the association between the impact of self-esteem and the need for orthodontic treatment on oral health-related quality of life in children aged 11 to 14 at I.E. San Pedro Santísima Trinidad de Lurín, 2019. Methods: The sample consisted of 150 children, 49.3% male and 50.7% female, with an average age of 12.50 ± 1.08 years (minimum 11 years, maximum 14 years). Results: Self-esteem regarding the need for orthodontic treatment and quality of life, according to the Rosenberg index, demonstrated an association between the need for orthodontic treatment and self-esteem, but no association was found with quality of life or oral health. Additionally, oral health-related quality of life, assessed through the COHIP SF-19 index in relation to the need for orthodontic treatment, showed no statistically significant relationship between these variables. Conclusion: Further studies are proposed to assess the impact of self-esteem in relation to orthodontic treatments, including follow-up of patients after corrective treatments.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-10-10) Rojas Bazán, Mireya Katherin; Garavito Chang, Enna Lucila
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the need for orthodontic treatment, the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics, and quality of life in students aged 11 to 14 years in San José de Sisa, El Dorado Province, 2023. A quantitative, applied, correlational, and non-experimental study design was used, with a sample of 570 students aged 11 to 14 years from three educational institutions in San José de Sisa, located in El Dorado Province, San Martín department. A data collection form was used for the Orthodontic Treatment Need Index (INTO) at each educational institution, while the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics was assessed using the PIDAQ questionnaire. The Child Perception Questionnaire (CPQ 11-14) was used for the quality of life variable, and dental caries were measured using the DMFT index. The results showed a strong relationship between the need for orthodontic treatment, the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics, and quality of life, as the Pearson chi-square test value (0.00) was < 0.05. It was concluded that there is a relationship between the need for orthodontic treatment, the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics, and quality of life in relation to oral health in students aged 11 to 14 years in San José de Sisa, El Dorado Province, 2023.

Quality of life in relation to oral problems and academic performance of schoolchildren from 11 to 14 years of age in the province of Cañete - 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-12-06) Sánchez Candela, Arlet Carolina; Girano Castaños, Jorge Alberto
The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between oral problems, quality of life, and academic performance in schoolchildren aged 11 to 14 years in the province of Cañete - 2022. The research has a quantitative approach, deductive method, applied type, and observational design. The sample consisted of 126 students aged 11 to 14 years. Data collection was carried out using the Child Perception Questionnaire (CPQ 11-14) which has been validated in Spanish, dental records, and students' grade records. The results showed that 94.4% had dental caries, and regarding malocclusions, it was found that 89.7% of the 126 students needed orthodontic treatment, while only 7.9% had dental trauma lesions. The descriptive values of the CPQ 11-14 were 34.96±23.4. Regarding academic performance, 85.7% of students passed. The conclusion is that, despite a high incidence of caries and the need for orthodontic treatment, there is no significant association with quality of life. Furthermore, even though poor oral conditions are evident, they do not correlate with academic performance.
