"tocosh" en ratas Holtzman(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-02-23) Castillo Carpio, Ruth Marlen; Valverde Ortega, Fátima Lucia; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThe objective of this study was to verify the healing effect of a gel made from the ethanolic extract of the tuber Solanum tuberosum L. “tocosh” in Holtzman rats. Methodology: The analytical method was used, with a quantitative approach. The type of research was applied, and the design was experimental. The biological sample consisted of Holtzman rats, and the plant species used was the tuber Solanum tuberosum L. “tocosh.” A 70° ethanolic extract was prepared, followed by solubility testing and preliminary qualitative analysis. A gel was then formulated at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 2%, and its healing response was evaluated using the second-intention incision technique and a data collection sheet. Results: The extract was soluble in water, ethanol, and methanol. The metabolites identified included phenolic compounds, alkaloids, triterpenes and/or steroids, reducing sugars, and free amino groups. The formulated gel showed good organoleptic properties and physical stability. The healing response at the 2% concentration demonstrated homogeneous healing with increased dermal thickness through cellular layers, the appearance of keratohyalin granules with extensive dermoepidermal junction, and the formation of connective tissue and collagen fibers. Conclusion: The gel made from the ethanolic extract of the tuber Solanum tuberosum L. “tocosh” at a 2% concentration showed a healing effect.Publicación Acceso abierto Efecto hepatoprotector del extracto etanólico del tegumento de Raphanus sativus L. “rabanito” sobre la hepatotoxicidad inducida por paracetamol en ratas Holtzman - Lima, 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-10-09) Aliaga Pastor, Carlos Mario; Gutiérrez Cachique, Cinthia Pierina; Ñañez del Pino, DanielObjective: Determine the hepatoprotective effect of the ethanolic extract of the integument of Raphanus sativus L. “rabanito” on paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity in Holtzman rats. Materials and methods: Solubility tests and a phytochemical study were carried out on the ethanolic extract of the integument of Raphanus sativus L., and the hepatoprotective effect on paracetamol-induced intoxication compared to silymarin was determined. An experimental, quantitative and transversal design was applied, for this, 48 Holtzman rats were used, which were distributed into 6 groups of 8 rats each, different treatments were administered: White Group; Negative Control Group (Physiological saline + paracetamol); Positive Control Group: (Silymarin + paracetamol), Experimental group 1: (100mg/kg + 400mg/kg paracetamol); Experimental group 2: (200mg/kg + 400mg/kg paracetamol), Experimental group 3: (400mg/kg + 400mg/kg paracetamol), after 10 days the animals were sacrificed, a liver sample was extracted for the study histopathological, histopathological indicators (type and extent of the lesion) were evaluated. Results: The integument of Raphanus sativus L. is soluble in water, methanol and ethanol. The phytochemical study revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, steroids. Regarding the type and extent of the lesion at the histopathological level, it was mild. hepatic and focal degeneration in experimental groups 2 and 3. Conclusion: According to the histopathological analysis, a dose of 200 and 400 mg/kg of the ethanolic extract of the integument of Raphanus Sativus L. “rabanito” presented hepatoprotective effects on paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity. 400mg/kg.Publicación Acceso abierto Evaluación de la toxicidad aguda del extracto etanólico de hojas de rumex cuneifolius campd. “romaza” en ratas Holtzman, Lima 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2026-01-07) Bonifacio Ccarhuaypiña, Lucero Lizeth; Retiz Sarmiento, Keila Sarith; Ñañez del Pino, DanielRumex cuneifolius Campd., a perennial herbaceous species belonging to the Polygonaceae family, has long been known for its health benefits, but in large quantities, it can cause poisoning. Objective: To evaluate the acute toxicity of the ethanolic extract of Rumex cuneifolius Campd. leaves in Holtzman rats. Methodology: An experimental study was conducted, including a qualitative phytochemical analysis to determine the presence of primary and secondary metabolites. For the acute toxicity assessment, six rats were given a single oral dose of 300 mg/kg, adjusted to their weight. Another group of six rats received 2000 mg/kg, and four rats were given distilled water. After observing the experimental animals, they were euthanized to obtain biological samples, specifically liver and kidney tissue, for analysis. Results: The solubility of the extract was confirmed, and the presence of primary and secondary metabolites was observed. A notable increase in mean indirect and total bilirubin levels was observed in the hematological parameters. Furthermore, the histopathological study revealed congested portal tracts in the liver and glomeruli with damaged Bowman's capsules and vascular congestion in the kidneys. Finally, the Irvin test parameters showed significant acute toxicity at the extract dose. Conclusion: The extract was found to exhibit significant acute toxicity, with the highest toxicity observed at a dose of 2000 mg/kg.Publicación Acceso abierto Evaluación de la toxicidad aguda del extracto etanólico de la pulpa del fruto de Mauritia flexuosa L.f. (aguaje) en ratas Holtzman(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-15) Castillo Verde, Nira Eugenia; Limaylla Urbano, Elizabeth Miriam; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThe objective of this research was to evaluate the acute toxicity of the ethanolic extract from the pulp of Mauritia flexuosa L.f. (aguaje) in Holtzman rats. Methodology: The study was experimental. The plant sample was collected in the city of Tingo María. Eight rats from the National Institute of Health were used. They were housed in metal cages equipped with the necessary conditions for their stay and divided into a control group and an experimental group. The ethanolic extract was administered orally to the experimental group at a single dose of 2000 mg/kg, while the control group received only distilled water. Acute toxicity was evaluated using the Irwin test. Subsequently, the animals were sacrificed for macroscopic evaluation and organ extraction for histopathological study. Results: Secondary metabolites were identified in the ethanolic extract. In the macroscopic analysis, alterations in the stomach were observed, with mild lesions in 33% and moderate lesions in 16.7% of the cases. In the histopathological study, 50% of the samples showed moderate alterations and 50% showed severe alterations in the lungs. Conclusion:It was confirmed that the ethanolic extract from the pulp of Mauritia flexuosa L.f. (aguaje), at a limit dose of 2000 mg/kg, does not show toxicological effects in Holtzman rats.
