Factors that influence adherence of mothers of children under one year to the program of growth and development in P.S. Horacio Zevallos de Ate, Lima 2017
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-09-07) Felix Quispe, Lissett Ishamar; Montes Ramirez, Rosa Roxana; Calsin Pacompia, Wilmer
The objective of the study was to determine the factors that influence the adherence of mothers of children under 1 year old to the growth and development program at the P.S. Horacio Zevallos in Ate. Method: The study had a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional approach, with the technique being the interview and documentary analysis. The instruments used were the questionnaire and checklist, and adherence was determined based on the clinical history. The sampling was probabilistic and consisted of 145 mothers. Results: The ages of the mothers that stood out the most were between 20 and 39 years old (58.6%); occupation as housewives (56.6%); in economic factors, household chores were the most prominent (66%); in the knowledge factor, the information provided by the nurse was considered little useful (76%); and in the institutional factor, the waiting time (79%). Regarding adherence to the growth and development control, 61% of the children did not comply with their scheduled controls and had one absence. Conclusions: It was observed that economic, knowledge, and institutional factors influence mothers' adherence. There is no adherence because most mothers do not attend the respective controls.

Maternal hematological values and newborn hemoglobin levels at Cayetano Heredia National Hospital 2019-2020
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-12-04) Pinto Azañedo, Martha Rosario; Champa Guevara, Cesar Alfonso
During pregnancy, metabolic and physiological adaptations are triggered to meet the demands of fetal and uterine development, requiring adequate hemoglobin levels. This protein is crucial for oxygen transport to both the mother and fetus across the placental barrier. Maternal hematological problems are considered a public health issue both nationally and internationally, as alterations in hemoglobin and hematocrit during pregnancy are linked to perinatal complications, high maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, and anemia prevalence exceeding 50% among pregnant women, infants, and children under two years old in developing countries. The goal of this research project is to analyze the relationship between maternal hematological values and hemoglobin levels in newborns of pregnant women attended at the Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia during 2019-2020. Alterations in maternal hemoglobin levels are associated with a higher incidence of problems in newborns and higher maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.

Risk of low birth weight in infants born to adolescent mothers versus adult mothers
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-16) Abrego Botin, Elizabeth Haydee; Márquez Vivanco, Delia Esther; Bonilla Asalde, César Antonio
Systematic observational and retrospective quantitative review of 10 articles, subjected to critical selection, using the Grade evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence, found in the following databases: Scielo, Lilacs, Medline, Bvs and Pubmed. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 60% (n=6/10) are cohort studies, 30% (n= 3/10) are case-control studies and 10% (n= 1/10) are systematic review studies. According to the results obtained from the systematic review carried out in the present study, the articles come from Chile (20%), Brazil (20%), Sub-Saharan Africa (20%), Colombia (10%), England (10%), Peru (10%) and Mexico (10%). Likewise, of the evidence found, 80% (n=8/10) agree that children born to adolescent mothers have low birth weight and 20% (n=2/10) of studies demonstrate that there was no difference between newborns of teenage mothers in relation to children of mothers over 20 years of age. There is a risk of low birth weight in children born to teenage mothers, which leads to having lower anthropometric development in the future.
