Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of cognitive remediation therapy to improve memory and care of patients with schizophrenia(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-01) Cajahuanca Poma, Rosa Nancy; Terrel Enciso, Jenny Liliana; Gamarra Bustillos, CarlosObjective: Systematize evidence on the effectiveness of cognitive remediation therapy to improve memory and attention in patients with schizophrenia. Materials and methods: This is a systematic, observational, and retrospective review, subject to critical reading and using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the level of evidence in articles published in the following databases: Scielo, Epistemonikos, Sciencedirect, PubMed, and Researchgate. From the 10 articles reviewed systematically, 20% (n=2/10) were meta-analyses, 10% (n=1/10) was a systematic review, 50% (n=5/10) were randomized controlled trials, and 20% (n=2/10) were quasi-experimental studies. The studies came from China (30%), followed by England (20%), Spain (10%), Uruguay (10%), Chile (10%), and Canada (10%). Results: 100% (n=10/10) of the evidence indicates that cognitive remediation therapy is effective in improving memory and attention in patients with schizophrenia. Conclusion: All 10 out of 10 pieces of evidence affirm that cognitive remediation therapy is effective in improving memory and attention in patients with schizophrenia, and its demonstrated effectiveness suggests it could be recommended.
