Ítem Acceso abierto Quality of life of patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis at Hngai- Essalud- 2013.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Garcia Vasquez, Margarita Cintia; Chávez Zegarra, Gaby SoniaChronic kidney disease (CKD) is an illness that has severe consequences for the patient as well as their family environment, affecting their functional capacity and overall quality of life due to the treatment they undergo. The objective of this study was to determine the quality of life in patients receiving hemodialysis treatment at the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital. The study method was qualitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional, with a sample of 51 patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment, randomly selected. The SF-36 health questionnaire was used as an instrument. Results: The quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment in the physical role, vitality, and social function dimensions was poor in the majority of cases. In the dimensions of bodily pain and general health, the quality of life was fair in the majority. In the physical function dimension, the quality of life was poor in a significant percentage. In the emotional role and mental health dimensions, the quality of life was poor for nearly half of the respondents and fair for the rest. In the dimension of self-reported health, the quality of life was good for a third of the respondents. Comparing the results across the 9 quality of life dimensions of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment, it was concluded that the quality of life was poor for most respondents.
