Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of riboflavin as a prophylactic treatment for migraine.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-07) Ayala Ortiz, Veronica Elena; Aizanoa Leandro, Ricardo Lenin; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaObjective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of riboflavin as a prophylactic treatment for migraine. Material and Methods: systematic review of 10 scientific articles analyzed the evidence about the effectiveness of riboflavin as a prophylactic treatment for migraine. These were found in the following databases: Pubmed, Sciencedirect, Scielo, Redalyc, Cochrane, Researchgate., these correspond to the quantitative type, systematic review design and randomized controlled trial. These bibliographic reviews prepared in the present study, 60% (n= 6/10) are systematic reviews, 40% (n= 4/10) are randomized controlled trials. Of which come from the USA (20%), Iran (10%), Italy (10%), Argentina (10%), Malaysia (10%) and from randomized controlled trial studies come from the countries of Iran (20% ), Germany (10%), USA (10%). Results: Likewise, of the evidence analyzed, 90% (n=9/10) demonstrate the effectiveness of riboflavin as a prophylactic treatment for migraine, being effective in adults compared to treatments in children, indicating that they are still in studies. Conclusion: Riboflavin vitamin supplementation is effective as a prophylactic treatment for migraine.
