Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between cariogenic risk of the lunch box and severity of dental caries in children of the Carlos Hiraoka Torres Educational Institution, Lima 2019.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-08-25) Vasquez Vasquez, Ronald Yme; Iturria Reátegui, Ingrid Rosa IsabelThe study was descriptive, prospective, and cross-sectional; relational in nature, and its objective was to determine the relationship between the cariogenic risk of school lunchboxes and the severity of dental caries in children at the Carlos Hiraoka Torres Educational Institution, Lima, 2019. A cariogenic record and odontogram were used. The sample consisted of 125 children. The results showed that the cariogenic risk of the lunchboxes was low in 63 children (50.4%) and moderate in 62 children (49.6%). Regarding the severity of dental caries in each child, based on the (ceod) index, 52 children (41.6%) had low to very low severity, 23 children (18.4%) had moderate severity, and 50 children (40%) had high to very high severity. Regarding the relationship between the cariogenic risk of the lunchbox and the severity of dental caries by age, the results showed a relationship only in two levels: low and moderate, where a correlation was found between these two variables for children aged 4 years (p<0.05). A low positive correlation (0.358) was found, which was significant (p<0.05) according to the Spearman correlation coefficient. In conclusion, there is no statistically significant relationship between the cariogenic risk of the lunchbox and the severity of dental caries at the educational institution.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between dental caries and cariogenic risk in schoolchildren aged 6 to 9 years at the Mariscal Castilla educational institution in Tingo María-2023´(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-14) Pérez Espinoza, Kelcy Jael; Huamani Caquiamarca, Yuliana EstherAccording to the World Health Organization, almost 100% of the adult population and 60% of children suffer from dental caries. The objective of this study was to determine if there is a relationship between dental caries and caries risk in schoolchildren aged 6 to 9 years at the Mariscal Ramón Castilla Educational Institution in Tingo María during 2023. The hypothetical-deductive method was used, as a phenomenon was to be discovered within a group of people that are part of the study and to understand its distribution within the group. The population consisted of schoolchildren aged 6 to 9 years, with a sample of 248 children attending the educational institution. It was found that 62% of 6-year-old children have a high risk of caries, as do 37.9% of 7-year-olds. 46.2% of 8-year-old children have a medium risk of caries, and 44.8% of 9-year-olds have a low caries risk. In total, 39.6% of the boys and 41.8% of the girls showed a medium caries risk.
