    Efecto antiinflamatorio y analgésico del extracto hidroalcohólico de las hojas de Rumex cuneifolius Campd. “Romaza” mediante el método de edema subplantar y contorsiones abdominales en ratones albinos (Mus musculus)

    In this study, the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of the hydroalcoholic extract from the leaves of Rumex cuneifolius Campd., known as "Romaza," were evaluated using the subplantar edema and abdominal writhing methods in albino mice (Mus musculus). Materials and Methods: A hydroalcoholic extract was obtained by maceration with 70% ethanol. The anti-inflammatory effect was assessed using the 1% albumin-induced subplantar edema method. The mice were divided into a Control Group, a diclofenac group (50 mg/kg), a dexamethasone group (4 mg/kg), and a hydroalcoholic extract group at doses of 50, 100, and 150 mg/kg. The analgesic effect was evaluated using the 0.8% glacial acetic acid-induced abdominal writhing model. The mice were divided into a Control Group, a paracetamol group (300 mg/kg), a tramadol group (40 mg/kg), and a hydroalcoholic extract group at doses of 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg. Results and Conclusion: The extract showed solubility in both ethanol and methanol. The qualitative phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of primary metabolites (carbohydrates and amino acids) and secondary metabolites (phenolic compounds, flavonoids, steroids and/or triterpenes, sesquiterpene lactones, quinones, and alkaloids). The study determined that the ideal dose for the anti-inflammatory effect was 100 mg/kg, with an effectiveness of 94%. The analgesic effect was confirmed at a dose of 100 mg/kg, showing a 75% effectiveness. In conclusion, the hydroalcoholic extract from the leaves of Rumex cuneifolius Campd. "Romaza" demonstrates both anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

    Evaluación de la toxicidad aguda del extracto etanólico de hojas de rumex cuneifolius campd. “romaza” en ratas Holtzman, Lima 2025

    Rumex cuneifolius Campd., a perennial herbaceous species belonging to the Polygonaceae family, has long been known for its health benefits, but in large quantities, it can cause poisoning. Objective: To evaluate the acute toxicity of the ethanolic extract of Rumex cuneifolius Campd. leaves in Holtzman rats. Methodology: An experimental study was conducted, including a qualitative phytochemical analysis to determine the presence of primary and secondary metabolites. For the acute toxicity assessment, six rats were given a single oral dose of 300 mg/kg, adjusted to their weight. Another group of six rats received 2000 mg/kg, and four rats were given distilled water. After observing the experimental animals, they were euthanized to obtain biological samples, specifically liver and kidney tissue, for analysis. Results: The solubility of the extract was confirmed, and the presence of primary and secondary metabolites was observed. A notable increase in mean indirect and total bilirubin levels was observed in the hematological parameters. Furthermore, the histopathological study revealed congested portal tracts in the liver and glomeruli with damaged Bowman's capsules and vascular congestion in the kidneys. Finally, the Irvin test parameters showed significant acute toxicity at the extract dose. Conclusion: The extract was found to exhibit significant acute toxicity, with the highest toxicity observed at a dose of 2000 mg/kg.
