Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of educational intervention in school health in diabetic patients in the Luis Negreiros Vega Hospital 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-11) Gomez Herrera, Yoana Smith; Bellido Dina, VilchezDiabetes Mellitus is a chronic degenerative disease with a high incidence in the population that can affect the quality of life of the patient and has manifestations in the oral cavity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an oral health educational intervention in diabetic patients treated at the Luis Negreiros Vega Hospital during 2019. This research was experimental, with a pre-test and post-test in a single group. The non-probabilistic sample consisted of 80 diabetic patients treated at the Luis Negreiros Vega Hospital during the February-March-April trimester of 2019. For the analysis of the results, the Wilcoxon rank test was used, with a significance level of 5% (p <0.05). The results showed that the educational intervention improved the oral health knowledge of diabetic patients, with a statistically significant difference. Before the educational intervention, 52% of diabetic patients had low oral health knowledge. After the educational intervention, 100% of diabetic patients had high oral health knowledge. It was concluded that the educational intervention was effective in improving oral health knowledge in diabetic patients. It is necessary to promote more of these educational interventions to improve the health of our population.
