Efficacy of bioluminescence with adenosine triphosphate in the quality of cleaning surfaces of biomedical devices in sterilization centers.

Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of bioluminescence with adenosine triphosphate in the cleaning quality of biomedical device surfaces in sterilization centers. Materials and Methods: The study follows a quantitative approach and was a systematic review design. The articles were located in the following databases: Cochrane Plus, Lilacs, PubMed, Medline, Epistemonikos, Intramed, and Scielo. The GRADE method was used to evaluate the articles, which verifies the quality of evidence and strength of recommendation. Results: 10 studies were evaluated, of which 30% were systematic reviews, 20% clinical trials, 20% experimental, 10% quasi-experimental, 10% cohort, and 10% cross-sectional. Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% demonstrated the effect of bioluminescence with adenosine triphosphate on the cleaning quality of biomedical device surfaces in sterilization centers, a process primarily handled by nurses specialized in sterilization centers.

Level of knowledge about the visual inspection of the instruments in the nursing staff of the sterilization center of a private clinic in Lima.

During the visual inspection of the instruments, the following must be taken into account: control of cleanliness and any alterations that the material may suffer, as well as paying special attention to the conservation and validation of the functionality of the instruments. Cleanliness is verified through sight and touch, free of residues and that the instrument is dry, paying special attention to critical areas such as handles, joints, hollow cavities or toothed mouths. Any residue adhered for a long time and once dried (encrusted), produces corrosion; in addition, prolonged immersion and/or abandonment leads to damage. Traces of blood, pus, secretions, tissue remains, bone residues; steel wool, metal brushes, among others, must be sought in the instruments. The visual inspection, search for defects or dirt that could interfere with the sterilization or use methods, must be carried out thoroughly with the support of a magnifying glass or microscope and monitor on each of the items before proceeding to their preparation and packaging. Level of knowledge on visual inspection of instruments: It is the set of information available on the visual evaluation carried out on the instruments that will be subjected to sterilization to verify their cleanliness and integrity.
