    Aspiration of subglottic secretions as an effective alternative for the prevention of pneumonia in patients with mechanical ventilation

    Objectives Systematize evidence on the effectiveness of subglottic aspirations for reducing pneumonia in patients with mechanical ventilation. Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search was based exclusively on articles with full text, and the chosen studies were subjected to a critical reading, based on the GRADE evaluation to identify their level of evidence. In the selection, 10 articles were chosen, of which 20% (2/10) correspond to the United States, 20% (2/10) Australia, 10% (1/10) to India, 20% (2/10) ) Canada, 10% (1/10) China, 10% (1/10) France and 10% (1/10) Belgium. Of these there are 2 systematic reviews, 4 meta-analyses, 3 clinical trials and 1 control study, all of high quality. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% (10/10) demonstrated that aspiration of subglottic secretions reduces the incidence of pneumonia and edema problems compared to tracheal aspirations. Conclusions: It was shown that aspiration of subglottic secretions is effective in reducing the risk of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation.

    Conocimiento sobre aspiración de secreciones y las prácticas de la enfermera en pacientes intubados del Servicio de Emergencia Adulto de un Hospital Nacional de Lima, 2024

    Introducción: La aspiración de secreciones es un procedimiento de suma importancia para evitar complicaciones de las vías respiratorias en pacientes intubados, el cual requiere que el personal de enfermería tenga los conocimientos suficientes para desarrollar adecuadamente la práctica. Objetivo: Determinar cuál es la relación entre el conocimiento y las prácticas de la enfermera sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados del Servicio de Emergencia Adulto de un Hospital Nacional. Metodología: es un estudio hipotético deductivo, con enfoque cuantitativo, correlacional y transversal, de diseño no experimental, la población a estudiar está constituida por 60 enfermeras asistenciales del área de emergencia adulto del hospital, se aplicará 2 instrumentos con valides previa, se empleará la encuesta para el desarrollo del cuestionario que cuenta con cuatro alternativas para medir el conocimiento y la observación durante la aplicación de la lista de chequeo para medir las prácticas de la enfermera sobre aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados. Los datos serán procesados en el paquete estadístico SPSS versión 23 que determinará la correlación de las variables según la prueba de Rho de Spearman.

    Conocimiento y la práctica del profesional de enfermería sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados en un hospital de Lima octubre 2022

    En esta investigación titulada conocimiento y la práctica del profesional de enfermería sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados en un hospital de Lima, Octubre, 2022; cuyo objetivo es determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y practica del profesional de enfermería sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados en un hospital, se realiza bajo el método de investigación hipotético deductivo con un enfoque cuantitativo de tipo básica, diseño no experimental, se usará como técnica la encuesta y la observación no participante, el instrumento se obtuvo estudia las 2 variables cuales son conocimiento y práctica del profesional de enfermería sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados; presenta justificación teórica por que busca determinar si existe relación entre las variables mediante la revisión de bibliografías cientientificas, metodológica ya que aportara la relación de las variables mediante la utilización de un instrumento será procesado para la evaluación de los resultados y practica porque serán a beneficio del establecimiento de salud para mejora de la práctica profesional y bienestar del paciente; se realizó bajo la hipótesis general existe relación entre los conocimientos y práctica del profesional de enfermería sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados en un hospital.

    Conocimientos sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes entubados y prácticas del personal de enfermería en la unidad de cuidados intensivos de un hospital nacional, Lima 2025

    La aspiración de secreciones tiene el objetivo de retirar fluidos bronquiales a hospitalizados en ventilación mecánica (con tubo endotraqueal y/o traqueotomía) a través de una sonda de aspiración. El personal responsable de este procedimiento es la enfermera (o) pues es un cuidado que está basado en el conocimiento científico, técnico e instruido para lograr una atención optima hacia el paciente minimizando riesgos al ejecutarlo. Objetivos: “Determinar la relación que existe entre el nivel de conocimientos sobre la aspiración de secreciones en pacientes entubados y prácticas del personal de enfermería en la unidad de cuidados intensivos de un Hospital Nacional, Lima 2025”. Metodología: se aplicará el método hipotético - deductivo, con un enfoque cuantitativo, se presentará una investigación aplicada de diseño no experimental, de nivel correlacional y de corte transversal. La muestra estará conformada por 40 enfermeras (os) que trabajan en cuidados intensivos de adultos siguiendo los criterios de selección. Se presentará un instrumento que medirá el conocimiento cuya confiabilidad KR 20=0,68; asimismo se medirá la práctica con un instrumento validado cuyo KR-20= 0,66. ya con todos los datos recopilados se ingresarán a Microsoft Excel y luego en spss versión 26 para su análisis respectivo inferencial no paramétrica, estadígrafo. mediante el coeficiente de correlación de Pearson, se representarán y discutirán los resultados mediante tablas y figuras.

    Conocimientos y prácticas del profesional de enfermería sobre la técnica de aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados en el Hospital Regional de Huacho-2025

    Objetivo: “Determinar la relación que existe entre el conocimiento y la práctica del profesional de enfermería sobre la técnica de aspiración de secreciones en pacientes intubados”. La población estará constituida por profesionales de enfermería que laboran en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Regional de Huacho. Muestra: El total de la población. Diseño metodológico: El tipo de investigación será aplicada. El diseño será observacional, descriptivo, correlacional, prospectivo y transversal. Instrumentos: Para evaluar la variable "Conocimiento sobre la técnica de aspiración de secreciones" se utilizará un cuestionario validado mediante juicio de expertos, y para la variable "Práctica de la aspiración de secreciones", se empleará una lista de chequeo basada en protocolos estandarizados. Ambos instrumentos serán validados mediante Alpha de Cronbach para garantizar su confiabilidad. Técnica de recolección de datos: se realizará mediante encuesta y observación directa. Procesamiento estadístico y análisis de datos: se realizará mediante técnicas descriptivas y frecuencias expresadas en porcentajes. El análisis estadístico se llevará a cabo según sea su distribución utilizando pruebas paramétricas (Correlación de Pearson) o no paramétricas (Correlación Rho de Spearman).

    Effective nursing interventions for the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation

    Objective:Analyze the evidence on effective nursing interventions for the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation.Methodology:The search was carried out in the Pubmed, Cochrane, Elsevier, Lilacs, Scielo and Google Scholar database of articles published between 2012 and 2017 whose main theme is effective nursing interventions in the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation. Results: Of 10 scientific reviews, 100% are of quality high, of the total of systematic reviews, 6 articles conclude that oral hygiene with chlorhexidine reduces the incidence of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation, 4 articles conclude that elevation of the head of 30|-60° reduces the incidence of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation. mechanical ventilation, 3 articles conclude that aspiration and management of secretions reduces pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation and 1 article concludes that abdominal massage and post-pyloric feeding reduce the risk of pneumonia associated with ventilation. mechanics.Conclusion:Effective nursing interventions for the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation include oral cavity hygiene with chlorhexidine, elevation of the head of the head 30°-60°, aspiration and management of secretions, post-pyloric feeding and the abdominal massage.

    Objectives: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of aspiration of subglottic secretions in adult patients with an artificial airway to reduce complications. Methodology and method: systematic and retrospective review studies, subjected to critical reading and using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence of articles published in PubMed, Sciencedirect, Epistemonikos, Scielo, Researchgate. Results: 80% indicate that aspiration of subglottic secretions is effective in adult patients with an artificial airway to reduce complications. 20% indicate that aspiration of subglottic secretions is not effective. Conclusions: With the aspiration of subglottic secretions, the incidence of pneumonia associated with the ventilator was reduced, and there was a decrease in the incidence of hospital stay.

    Effectiveness of high-level disinfection as a safe reprocessing method for endoscopes

    Objective: Determine the effectiveness of high-level disinfection as a safe reprocessing method for endoscopes. Materials and Methods: A systematic review was carried out, which synthesizes the results of multiple primary investigations. They are an essential part of evidence-based medicine due to their rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions of clinical practice. Results: The systematic review of the 06 scientific articles on the effectiveness of high-level disinfection as a safe reprocessing method for endoscopes correspond to the Lipecs, Lilacs, Scielo and Medline databases. The DAN in an endoscope after having been used when there are traces of organic secretions is not sufficient. Conclusion: Every endoscope, after having been used, when there are organic secretions, must be sterilized after high-level disinfection has been carried out.

    Effectiveness of respiratory techniques to improve clinical status in infants with acute bronchiolitis

    Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of respiratory techniques to improve the clinical status in infants with acute bronchiolitis. Material and methods: The systematic review of 10 scientific articles from the following database Scielo, Pubmed, Epistemonikos, all analyzed according to the Grade scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Results: 80% of the evidence shows effectiveness in terms of respiratory techniques: vibrations, prolonged slow expiration, nebulization with 3% hypertonic saline solution, aspiration of secretions and postural drainage and 20% conclude that vibrations and percussion can cause vomit. Conclusion: 8 out of 10 evidence points to the different respiratory techniques: vibrations, aspiration of secretions, nebulization, postural drainage and prolonged slow expiration are effective in improving respiratory rate and clinical status in infants. In 2 out of 10 evidence they conclude that vibrations are not recommended since they can cause vomiting in our infants with acute bronchiolitis.

    Efficacy of early extubation vs. conventional intubation in reducing the hospital stay of older adults undergoing cardiac surgery

    Objective: To establish the effectiveness of early extubation vs. conventional extubation in reducing the hospital stay of older adults undergoing cardiac surgery. Materials and Methods: The systematic bibliographic review is Observational and retrospective in Spanish, with a history of no more than 5 years, the search has been restricted to full-text articles and which have been selected through critical reading. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, 10% being Chile and 90% of other Latin American countries, no attempt was made to calculate the sample sizes required to determine if the mortality rates and major morbidities after cardiac surgery They change depending on the moment chosen to perform the extubation. 30% are Quasi-experimental studies, another 30% are Random Studies applying conventional extubation with early extubation and prospective studies of the study criteria considering risk factors and patient age in search of evaluating the morbidity and mortality of the patients. patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Conclusions: It was evident in scientific research and systematic reviews of the different types of randomized, quasi-randomized and prospective studies that consider Early Extubation effective in cardiac surgery patients, which reduces the risk of infection and the hospital stay of the post-surgery patient. cardiac surgery, therefore, reduces institutional costs. In addition, the nurse plays important roles in standardizing the care of the intubated patient through timely care in the patency of secretions, position of the patient, well-being and maintenance of the physical and mental comfort of the patient undergoing cardiac surgery.

    Knowledge and Practice of Suctioning Secretions by Nurses in Intubated Patients in the Intensive Care Unit of a Hospital in Chincha, 2022.

    The intensive care unit admits patients with various pathologies, making it common for several invasive procedures to be performed. One of the routine activities carried out by nurses is the aspiration of secretions, with the goal of removing accumulated bronchial secretions from the respiratory tract and maintaining airway patency. This procedure requires that the nurse has the necessary knowledge and proper technique. The objective of this research project is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice of secretion suction by nurses in intubated patients in the intensive care units of a hospital in Chincha, 2022. The study has a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental design, and cross-sectional nature. The study population consists of 36 nurses working in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Chincha. Data collection techniques and instruments: The techniques used will be surveys and observation. A questionnaire will be administered to the nurses, with informed consent, consisting of 16 questions, and a checklist with 19 items, which will be filled out according to observations. The results will be collected, processed, and coded in an Excel database and will be tabulated and analyzed using the SPSS 2022 software.

    Knowledge and practices of the nurse about the secretion aspiration technique in intubated patients in the critical areas of a hospital in Lima – 2020.

    Hospital-acquired respiratory infections are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Peru. Endotracheal aspiration aims to stabilize and maintain airways that facilitate the passage of air, mechanically removing accumulated pulmonary secretions, with particular attention to patients with artificial airways. The nurse, who is responsible for patient care, performs suction in intubated patients and requires proper knowledge and skills to avoid complications that can lead to hospital-acquired infections. Objective: To determine the relationship between the nurse's knowledge and practices regarding the secretion aspiration technique in intubated patients in critical care areas at a hospital in Lima. Materials and methods: This study has a quantitative approach, aiming to assess observable behaviors through the application of a suitable instrument. It is a descriptive correlational type with a cross-sectional design, as data will be collected at a single point in time. The research techniques to be used are the survey and observation. The instruments for each technique will be a questionnaire and a checklist.

    Level of knowledge and its relationship with the practice on the aspiration of secretions from the endotracheal tube in the nursing staff of the intensive care service in a hospital in Lima in the year 2023

    The present study aims as OBJECTIVE: To determine the degree of knowledge and its relationship with the practice on the aspiration of secretions from the endotracheal tube in the nursing staff of the Intensive Care Service in a Hospital in Lima in the year 2023. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Observational, quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive research, the information will be collected in a single moment within the established time. Taking into account as population 80 participants of the nursing staff working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). To measure the two variables, two questionnaires validated by expert judgment will be used with a value of 0.73 and a reliability value of 0.86 elaborated by "Quispe (2018)" and 0.98 for the evaluation of the practices elaborated by Olarte (2018) on the aspiration of bronchial secretions. The data will be entered into the SPSS 26 software, the descriptive statistical data being captured in figures and tables to obtain the results which will be used to answer the research questions, by means of the Chi-square analysis it will be possible to know the association between the variables reaching the conclusion if they are related to each other.

    Level of knowledge and nursing practice on aspiration of secretions in intensive care patients of the International Clinic-2024

    Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and nursing practice on secretion aspiration in intensive care patients. Methodology: The method of this study is hypothetical deductive, quantitative approach, basic type, observational, correlational and cross-sectional design. There will be a census population that will include 22 nurses working in the Intensive Care Unit. To measure both study variables, two instruments validated by the original author will be used, considering a questionnaire with a Pearson's r of 0.64 and a checklist with 0.69, showing that both instruments are valid. Likewise, by means of the Kuder Richardson formula, their reliability is 0.68 and 0.70 respectively. On the other hand, the information obtained will be reported by means of Microsoft Excel software and later analyzed by the IBM program. It should be noted that in this study the principle of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice will be respected in each participant.

    The objective of this research will be to: Determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge and practice of the nurse on the aspiration of secretions in intubated neonates at the Ramiro Prialé Prialé 2022 National Hospital. The methodology will be hypothetical deductive, quantitative approach, applied non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational scope; The population to be investigated was 80 nurses from the neonatology service; for which a questionnaire and a checklist will be used. Once the data from both instruments is obtained, the SPSS program will be used, where the data will be transferred; In addition, a descriptive analysis of the categorical variables will be carried out, showing absolute and relative percentages. Inferential statistics will also be used, with the chi-square test. The results will be presented in statistical tables, pie charts and/or bars.

    Estudio titulado como “Nivel de conocimientos y prácticas en aspiración de secreciones en neonatos intubados de las enfermeras de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales del Hospital de Emergencias de Villa el Salvador, Lima -2024”, tiene como propósito : Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimientos y prácticas en aspiración de secreciones en neonatos intubados de las enfermeras de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales del hospital de Emergencias de Villa el Salvador, Lima -2024. Estudio hipotético deductivo, cuantitativo, aplicada, diseño no experimental, transversal y correlacional. La población, del estudio estuvo compuesta por 80 enfermeros que laboran en dicho establecimiento. Respecto a la recolección de información; para identificar la primera variable, se aplicará cuestionario, y guía de observación. En relación a la validez y confiabilidad de ambos instrumentos; la primera variable cuenta con un índice de validez de contenido de (CVI) de 0.868 y una confiabilidad de 0.805 según la prueba estadística Alpha de Cronbach. Respecto a la segunda variable, presenta un índice de validez de contenido de (CVI) de 0.868 y una confiabilidad de 0.890 según la prueba estadística de Kuder Richardson.

    Relationship between the level of knowledge and practice in nurses on aspiration of secretions in patients in the emergency department of the Hospital Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Lima 2021

    Objective: Determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge and practice in nurses regarding aspiration of secretions in patients in the emergency service. Methodology: The present research study in terms of its approach will be quantitative, applied, and non-experimental, descriptive, and correlational in design. The sample will be made up of 20 nurses from the emergency service. As for technical knowledge, it will be the survey, for practice, observation. The instruments that will be used for the knowledge variable will be the questionnaire, which will be executed in a single moment, for the practical variable it will be a checklist, which will be executed in a single moment. To collect the information, it will be done through a link shared through WhatsApp for the development of the questionnaire. The checklist will be carried out through observation at the time of performing the procedure, which is aspiration of secretions. With respect to the data obtained, the Microsoft Excel version 9 program will be carried out, subsequently it will be exported to the SPSS version 24.0 software to execute the corresponding statistical calculations, thus developing the tables and graphs for the analysis of the variables.
