Ítem Acceso abierto Self-concept and academic performance in students of the professional dentistry course at Norbet Wiener University in times of covid-19: 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-11) Chipana Garcia, Sulma Katia; Gómez Carrión, Christian EstebanThe purpose of the research was to determine the correlation between self-concept and academic performance among dental students at Universidad Norbert Wiener during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study follows a descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The sample consisted of 70 students selected using simple random sampling. To analyze the self-concept variable, the AF5 Scale by García and Musitu was applied, and academic performance was measured through the students' weighted average. The results show that there is no significant direct relationship (r = 0.184) between self-concept and academic performance among dental students at UPNW, thus rejecting the research hypothesis. However, a moderate correlation was found in academic self-concept (0.444) and family self-concept (0.414), confirming the importance of these variables in academic performance.
