Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-19) Caqui Crisostomo, Mademoisselle Andrea; Rodriguez Gallegos, Luz MariaThis study aimed to determine the sociocultural factors associated with attending the Pap smear test at the Juan Pablo II Maternal and Child Center. It was a correlational cross-sectional study with a sample of 200 women aged 18 to 65. The results showed that sociodemographic factors such as age, marital status, place of birth, parity, and number of sexual partners were significant. Regarding cognitive factors, knowledge level was not associated with attending the test (p: 0.184), but family-related factors such as partner motivation and self-motivation were significant. Cultural factors, such as shame and fear of a positive result, were also significantly related. Fifty-one percent of women underwent the Pap smear every two or three years, and 30% did so annually. The study concluded that several sociocultural factors are associated with attending the Pap smear test, recommending promoting support from partners or family members in consultations, as well as enhancing self-esteem and organizing informational talks for the general public.Ítem Acceso abierto Emotional dependence and self-esteem in high school students of I.E.P. Guillermo Mercado Barroso, Arequipa – 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-07-19) Cordero Mejía, Giordano Daniel; Vega Mendoza, Kattia YolandaThe objective of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional dependence and self-esteem in high school students at a private institution in Arequipa. The method followed was the hypothetical-deductive method, a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The study consisted of 80 high school students from a private educational institution in Arequipa. The instruments used were the Emotional Dependence Scale (ACCA) by Anicama et al. (2013) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (EAR) by Rosenberg (1965). The research results indicated that there is no significant relationship between the study variables, as the calculated p-value was greater than 0.05 (0.473); thus, it is concluded that there is no significant inverse relationship between emotional dependence and self-esteem in high school students at a private educational institution in Arequipa.Ítem Acceso abierto Impact of malocclusions on self-esteem and the need for orthodontic treatment in adolescent patients treated at the ODAM dental clinic, Lima 2021.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-04-05) Izaguirre Arregui, Carolina de las Mercedes; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineThe aim of this research was to determine the impact of malocclusions on self-esteem and the need for orthodontic treatment in adolescent patients attended at the ODAM dental clinic, Lima, 2021. A quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study design was used. The sample consisted of 93 patients aged 11 to 14 years, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI) was used to measure the severity of malocclusions and the clinical need for orthodontic treatment, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) was used to measure self-esteem, and the Aesthetic Component (AC) of the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) was used to measure the need for orthodontic treatment according to the patient's perception. The results showed that most patients had some degree of malocclusion, with severe malocclusion being the most prevalent (67.7%). In terms of the distribution of malocclusion severity by age, very severe malocclusions were most commonly found at ages 13 and 14, and in terms of gender, malocclusions were more prevalent in females. Regarding self-esteem, two-thirds of the sample had high (46.2%) or medium (24.7%) self-esteem, while only 29.0% had low self-esteem. No statistically significant relationship was found between the severity of malocclusions and self-esteem level (p=0.809, p>0.05), nor between the severity of malocclusions and the need for orthodontic treatment as perceived by the adolescent patients (p=0.083, p>0.05).Ítem Acceso abierto Impact of self-esteem on the need for orthodontic treatment and quality of life related to oral health in children aged 11 to 14 years from the I.E. San Pedro Santísima Trinidad de Lurín, 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-07) Silva Tumba, Jordan; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineDental malocclusion is not a disease but a deviation from the aesthetic norm that requires orthodontic care, as it impacts physical, social, and psychological functioning, which are part of quality of life. It is understood that better aesthetics can lead to psychosocial improvement. Objective: To determine the association between the impact of self-esteem and the need for orthodontic treatment on oral health-related quality of life in children aged 11 to 14 at I.E. San Pedro Santísima Trinidad de Lurín, 2019. Methods: The sample consisted of 150 children, 49.3% male and 50.7% female, with an average age of 12.50 ± 1.08 years (minimum 11 years, maximum 14 years). Results: Self-esteem regarding the need for orthodontic treatment and quality of life, according to the Rosenberg index, demonstrated an association between the need for orthodontic treatment and self-esteem, but no association was found with quality of life or oral health. Additionally, oral health-related quality of life, assessed through the COHIP SF-19 index in relation to the need for orthodontic treatment, showed no statistically significant relationship between these variables. Conclusion: Further studies are proposed to assess the impact of self-esteem in relation to orthodontic treatments, including follow-up of patients after corrective treatments.Ítem Acceso abierto Influence of self-perception of dental appearance on self-esteem of dentistry students at the Private Norbert Wiener University, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-01) Serrano Quispe, Cintia Itania; Rojas Ortega, Raúl AntonioThe aim of this study was to assess the influence of self-perception of dental appearance on the self-esteem of dental students at the Universidad Norbert Wiener, 2023- II.
