Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of ATP bioluminescence to evaluate surface cleanliness in healthcare establishments(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Malasquez Espinoza, Ana Gabriela; Rodriguez Oro, Kharen Fabiola; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: To analyze and systematize the effectiveness of ATP bioluminescence for evaluating surface cleanliness in healthcare facilities. Materials and Methods: A systematic, observational, and retrospective review of a quantitative nature, subjected to critical selection, using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the level of evidence, found in the following databases: PubMed, Sciencedirect, Scielo, Wiley Online Library, Elsevier, and Epistemonikos. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 30% (n=3/10) are systematic reviews, and 70% (n=7/10) are cohort studies. These studies come from Italy (30%), followed by Brazil (10%), China (10%), Sweden (10%), Canada (10%), Chile (10%), the USA (10%), and the UK (10%). Results: Of the evidence found, 60% (n=6/10) (16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 25) indicate that ATP bioluminescence is effective for evaluating surface cleanliness in healthcare facilities. 40% (n=4/10) (18, 19, 20, 21) indicate that ATP bioluminescence is not effective for evaluating surface cleanliness in healthcare facilities. Conclusion: ATP bioluminescence is effective for evaluating surface cleanliness in healthcare facilities.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of ATP bioluminescence to evaluate surface cleanliness in healthcare establishments(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Malasquez Espinoza, Ana Gabriela; Rodriguez Oro, Kharen Fabiola; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: To analyze and systematize the effectiveness of ATP bioluminescence for evaluating surface cleanliness in healthcare facilities. Materials and Methods: This is a systematic review of 10 full-text articles, which were selected and critically reviewed. To identify their evidence grade, they were extracted from databases such as Scielo, Lilacs, Cochrane Plus, books, PubMed, and projects, published in the last 10 years. Results: Of the 10 articles analyzed, 100% affirm that cleaning contaminated instruments is the primary step in ensuring the effectiveness of sterilization. 90% of the articles demonstrate that mechanical washing is effective in eliminating microbial load, as it is a complete and standardized process. 80% improve cleaning effectiveness, 70% minimize risks of exposure to pathogenic microorganisms for staff, and manual washing is required for delicate and complex instruments. Conclusion: Mechanical washing is the most effective method compared to manual washing.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of saturated steam sterilization with pre-vacuum and gravity systems in optimizing sterilization of medical instruments(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-04) Delgado Camones, Jenny Margot; Suclla Sanchez, Juliane Patricia; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: To systematically analyze the evidence of the effectiveness of the saturated steam sterilization process with pre-vacuum and gravity systems in optimizing the sterilization of instruments for medical use. Materials and Methods: Systematic review design, population of 10 articles, sample of 6 scientific articles. Results: 6 articles were selected, coming from the United Kingdom, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and China, respectively; being that 100% of studies (n=6/6) show that the sterilization method using saturated steam autoclaves is effective; 33% of studies used gravity equipment, 83.3% (n=5/6) used pre-vacuum equipment. 66.6% (n=4/6) were monitored, they measured effectiveness: 50% used biological indicators negative for the growth of microorganisms; 16.6% used the thermometric method, failing the gravity equipment, in 83.3% that used pre-vacuum equipment it was 100% effective. 16.6% ensure effectiveness of sterilization of armed laparoscopic material; 16.6% evidence that medical instruments should be sterilized, not chemically disinfected. Conclusions: Research shows that the physical method of sterilization with saturated steam autoclaves, with pre-vacuum and gravity systems are effective, optimizing the sterilization of material for medical use.Ítem Acceso abierto Interventions that facilitate the correct cleaning of biomedical material in a sterilization center(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-11-12) Aguilar Ronquillo, Marybel; Olano Tomanguilla, Betsabe Aida; Mendigure Fernández, JulioIt is a systematic review of scientific articles with full text and summaries of selected articles. They underwent critical reading, using their level of evidence. Ten articles related to the work we performed were chosen. Of the total articles analyzed, 20% demonstrate that cleaning biomedical material is the primary step to perform the other processes. 30% refer to demineralized water and the use of enzymatic detergents for cleaning biomedical material. 20% refer to the use of washers in the cleaning of biomedical material, which guarantees the most efficient removal of microorganisms compared to manual washing. 20% indicate that educational interventions for staff working in clean areas are effective. Nurses will supervise the proper cleaning of materials and ensure the material is clean and ready for sterilization. Conclusion: Trained personnel who follow biosecurity rules, work conscientiously, and are supervised by trained nursing staff will achieve clean material, without the risk of deterioration of biomedical material, thus preventing an increase in hospital costs.
