Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between cardiovascular risk and physical activity level in drivers aged 40 to 65 from a public transportation company in East Lima, 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-06-27) Barrientos Ortiz, Juana; Matta Solis, Eduardo PercyMaterials and method: Study with a quantitative approach and descriptive cross-sectional and correlational methodological design. 103 transporters without already diagnosed cardiovascular disease were surveyed. The instrument for cardiovascular risk was the PAHO/WHO Cardiovascular Risk Calculator and to evaluate physical activity was the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) in its short version that includes 7 items. The data were analyzed by SPSS 25 version, using the Chi X2 correlation test. Results: 89.3% men, with an average age of 50 years, 50% with high cholesterol, 39% with high systolic pressure, 35% smokers and 16.5% with a history of diabetes. The cardiovascular risk was low in 62.14%, moderate risk in 31.07% and high in 5.83%. The level of physical activity was low at 71.84%; the moderate risk was 42% in the group with low physical activity. The value of the Chi X2 correlation test for physical activity and cardiovascular risk resulted in p=0.007 Conclusions: There is a relationship between level of physical activity and cardiovascular risk.
