Ítem Acceso abierto Degree of surgical difficulty of lower third molars evaluated in panoramic radiographs at the Surco CEDIXS X-Ray Diagnosis Center, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-07) Durand Andrade, Flor Rosario; Ascanoa Olazo, Jimmy AntonioThe objective of this study was to determine the surgical difficulty of lower third molars assessed on panoramic radiographs at the X-Ray Surco CEDIXS diagnostic center in 2023. The research was observational, cross-sectional, retrospective, and descriptive. The instrument used for data collection was a form with sections for sex, Winter classification, Pell and Gregory classification, and the Koerner index to assess surgical difficulty. A total of 278 panoramic radiographs were evaluated, and the following results were obtained: 46.04% presented moderate difficulty, followed by 35.61% with minimal difficulty, and 18.35% with high difficulty according to the Koerner index. Regarding the Winter classification, 62.20% of the patients had mesioangular third molar positions, 14.40% had horizontal or transverse positions, 13.70% had vertical positions, and 9.70% had distoangular positions. In the Pell and Gregory classification, class 2 (space availability) predominated with 54.30%, and level 1 (depth) was observed in 52.50%. Conclusion: The evaluation of third molars through panoramic radiographs is essential to complement the clinical diagnosis, choose the appropriate surgical technique, and minimize complications during and after surgery, ensuring favorable outcomes for the patient
