    Consumo de sustancias tóxicas en adolescentes de la Institución Educativa N° 5179 Los Pinos, Puente Piedra. Lima 2023

    This study aimed to analyze the consumption of toxic substances among adolescents at Institución Educativa N° 5179 Los Pinos, located in Puente Piedra, Lima, in 2023. The methodology followed a quantitative approach, with a descriptive scope and a cross-sectional observational design. The study population consisted of all students enrolled in the institution, totaling 380 adolescents aged 12 to 18 years, distributed across 17 sections. Data were gathered using a survey instrument to assess the consumption of toxic substances in relation to sex, nationality, age, and weekly disposable income. The results indicated that 76.6% of students reported not consuming toxic substances. Analysis by sex showed no significant disparities between males and females. Nationality was not associated with the use of any of the three substances studied. In terms of age, among 13-year-old adolescents, 18.4% reported no frequent consumption, 36.8% reported no frequent use but occasional consumption (6.8%) was present. With regard to weekly disposable income, adolescents with 1 to 5 soles available reported 94.7% non-consumption of cannabis. In conclusion, the findings suggest a tendency toward healthier lifestyle practices among adolescents at Institución Educativa N° 5179 Los Pinos, Puente Piedra, Lima.
