Perception on the use of teledentistry and its relationship with attitudes in monitoring orthodontic treatments in orthodontists in the San Isidro district, 2023.

The application of teledentistry during the pandemic experienced exponential growth due to the restrictions implemented for COVID-19 disease control in dental practice. It was introduced as a public health strategy in health facilities around the world, highlighting its benefits and limitations for routine dental practice and the ability of dental professionals from various specialties to adapt. The main objective of the study was to determine the perception of teledentistry use and its relation to attitudes in monitoring orthodontic treatments among orthodontists in the district of San Isidro, 2023. Materials and Methods: The data collection technique used in the study was the survey. The instruments were two questionnaires previously validated by expert judgment, and reliability tests were performed for their application in establishing the relationship between perception and attitudes among 45 orthodontists working in the district of San Isidro, regarding teledentistry and its application in monitoring orthodontic treatments. Results: The perception of teledentistry among orthodontists who participated in the study was good, with a positive attitude of 55.6%. Additionally, the Chi-square test was performed, yielding a p-value of 0.046, which is lower than the 5% significance level (p-value < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between the perception of teledentistry use and attitudes in monitoring orthodontic treatments among orthodontists in the district of San Isidro.

Understanding about oral health in primary school children of the i.e. n°18255 leoncio prado using educational sessions through teledentistry, Chachapoyas - Amazonas 2022

Objective: To determine the understanding of oral health among primary school students from I.E. N°18255 Leoncio Prado through educational sessions via teledentistry in Chachapoyas, Amazonas, 2022. Methodology: 108 students, both male and female, were evaluated using a questionnaire that covered various dimensions, including prevention, cavities, oral hygiene, and general oral health. Afterward, the students participated in a 30-minute educational session via teledentistry. The same questionnaire was given again for them to complete after the session. Results: The primary school students from I.E. N°18255 Leoncio Prado initially had a low understanding of the preventive dimension of oral health (100%), a low understanding of cavities (97.2%), a low understanding of oral hygiene (77.8%), and a low understanding of general oral health (100%). These levels drastically improved after the educational session via teledentistry, with the understanding of preventive measures, dental cavities, oral hygiene, and general oral health showing only 4.6%, 9.3%, 0%, and 2.8% low understanding, respectively. Conclusion: The educational session via teledentistry was effective in improving the understanding of oral health.
