Characterization of retinopathy of prematurity in a perinatal maternal hospital, Lima 2017-2019

Objective: Describe the characteristics of retinopathy of prematurity at a Maternal Perinatal Hospital in Lima during the period 2017-2019. Method: The present investigation has a quantitative approach, in terms of the methodological design it is a descriptive investigation, with the documentary analysis technique and the instrument of the data capture sheet, information was collected from the clinical records. Results: The characteristics were, the predominance of the male sex of the newborn with 60%, due to the type of delivery that the mother had, mostly delivery by cesarean section with 60%, mothers who had chorioamnionitis in 60%, due to the birth weight less than 1000 g in 40%, requirement for oxygen therapy with 60%, those who presented neonatal sepsis in 80%, according to the type of pregnancy single in 92%, gestational age less than 32 weeks with 72%, as for respiratory distress syndrome and intrauterine growth retardation, their percentages are less than 20%. Conclusion: The most important characterizations were: predominantly male gender, cesarean delivery, birth weight less than 1000g, oxygen therapy requirement, neonatal sepsis, type of singleton gestation, gestational age less than 32 weeks, mothers who presented chorioamnionitis, these characteristics being the most relevant and of great significance, they are possible risk factors for developing the disease.

La administración de oxigenoterapia es una práctica esencial en el cuidado de recién nacidos prematuros, y es crucial que los profesionales de enfermería posean un conocimiento profundo de los principios científicos que la respaldan. Es por ello que el propósito de este proyecto es investigar el vínculo que existe entre el conocimiento sobre la administración de oxigenoterapia y las prácticas de los enfermeros en neonatos prematuros en el INMPL durante el año 2023. Este estudio sigue un enfoque cuantitativo, utilizando el método hipotético-deductivo, con un diseño descriptivo-correlacional y no experimental. Realizado a 100 profesionales de enfermería. En la recolección de datos, se emplearon dos cuestionarios validados y confiables; utilizando el software SPSS 25.0. Dicho proyecto de investigación servirá de gran aporte en el campo de enfermería para brindar una atención de calidad a los neonatos. Este enfoque permitirá validar las hipótesis planteadas y formular conclusiones basadas en los descubrimientos del estudio.

Conocimiento sobre el destete oportuno de la oxigenoterapia y las prácticas del profesional de enfermería del Servicio de Emergencia de un hospital de nivel II de Lima, 2025

Introducción: En los servicios de emergencia, una gestión adecuada de la oxigenoterapia y su retiro progresivo en el momento oportuno constituye un aspecto esencial para favorecer la recuperación de pacientes con dificultades respiratorias. En ese contexto, el personal de enfermería desempeña un papel clave en la toma de decisiones, especialmente en lo que respecta a la disminución gradual del soporte de oxígeno, aplicando criterios técnicos y procedimientos seguros. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el conocimiento sobre el destete oportuno de la oxigenoterapia y las prácticas del profesional de enfermería del Servicio de Emergencia de un hospital Nivel II de Lima, 2025. Metodología: Método hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, aplicada, no experimental, transversal y alcance correlacional. La población estará constituida por 80 enfermeros. Para la recolección de datos, se utilizarán la encuesta y la observación como técnicas, con la aplicación de los instrumentos correspondientes, los cuales fueron validados mediante juicios de expertos, aplicando la V de Aiken, cuyo valor alcanzo 1,00, además de ser evaluados mediante la prueba binomial. La confiabilidad fue verificada a través de una prueba piloto en una muestra de 15 participantes, mediante el coeficiente de KR-20, evidenciando un valor de 0,81 y 0,82, para los respectivos instrumentos. El procesamiento y análisis de datos se realizará con el programa SPSS, aplicando la estadística descriptiva e inferencial, para luego determinar la relación mediante la prueba de Chi cuadrado.

Conocimiento sobre la administración de oxigenoterapia y prácticas del profesional de enfermería de la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales de un Hospital de Minsa - Lima, 2024

En los últimos años, la tasa de nacimientos prematuros ha aumentado a nivel global. Según un informe de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), aproximadamente 1 de cada 10 bebés nace prematuramente. Asimismo, un prematuro fallece cada 40 segundos. En el año 2021, se registraron alrededor de 152 millones de nacimientos prematuros en todo el mundo. Los factores asociados con el parto prematuro son diversos e incluyen infecciones urinarias, preeclampsia, diabetes, desprendimiento de placenta previo, embarazos múltiples, hipertensión crónica, miomas uterinos, entre otros. Objetivo: “determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y la práctica sobre la administración de oxigenoterapia del profesional de enfermería de la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales de un Hospital de Minsa”. Metodología: con enfoque cuantitativo, diseño correlacional, método hipotético deductivo, se seleccionó 70 enfermeras que laboran en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de un Hospital de Minsa, se eligió instrumentos validados como un cuestionario y la guía de observación. Después de obtener los resultados se ingresarán los datos al Microssoft Excel y posteriormente al SPSS 24. Se aplicará la prueba no paramétrica chi cuadrado para verificar si las variables tienen relación.

Introducción: Los primeros 28 días de vida extrauterina de un bebé es considerado el período neonatal, los cuales son críticos para la supervivencia de un bebé prematuro ya que no completo su desarrollo físico dentro del vientre materno lo cual lo llevara a usar ventilación mecánica ya sea invasiva o no invasiva, la presión positiva continua en las vías aéreas es un tipo de ventilación no invasiva usada en neonatos prematuros. Es crucial tener conocimiento y práctica en la aplicación de cuidados para evitar complicaciones tales como lesión nasal, retinopatía del prematuro y lesión pulmonar. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el conocimiento y los cuidados de enfermería del recién nacido prematuro en ventilación no invasiva de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales del Hospital Regional de Puno, 2024. Métodos: estudio descriptivo correlacional de tipo cuantitativo, corte transversal y diseño no experimental. La población será de 80 enfermeras quienes laboran en el servicio de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales del Hospital Regional - Puno. Se usará un cuestionario de opción múltiple adaptado por Rios el año 2019 y una guía de observación dicotómica adaptado por Pacheco 2019, los instrumentos cuentan con validez y confiabilidad para ser aplicadas en dichas variables de estudio. Los datos obtenidos serán procesados mediante SPSS 26.0 y se probarán mediante el coeficiente de Spearman las hipótesis planteadas, para probar si existe o no correlación en las variables a estudiar.

Conocimiento y prácticas en oxigenoterapia por enfermera(o)s de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales de un hospital público, Huánuco, 2025

Introducción: La oxigenoterapia en enfermería consiste en administrar oxígeno para contrarrestar los efectos nocivos y fatales de la hipoxemia; además, el oxígeno no tiene color nisabor, los efectos tóxicos ocurren con altas dosis y su uso extendido; por ello, debe ser proporcionado por períodos breves y con baja concentración, asegurando el bienestar del paciente. Objetivo: determinar la relación que existe entre el conocimiento y las prácticas en oxigenoterapia por enfermera(o)s de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales de un hospital público de Huánuco en el año 2025. Metodología: Se utilizará el método hipotético deductivo, cuantitativo, tipo aplicada, no experimental, correlacional y transversal; en este estudio participarán 60 enfermeras en las que se realizará un cuestionario y una guía de observación, los cuales han sido previamente validados. Los resultados obtenidos de los instrumentos se procesarán con el programa estadístico SPSS versión 26 y se presentarán en tablas y figuras del programa Excel. Por último, definirá la conexión entre las variables usando la prueba estadística de correlación de Spearman.

En la actualidad los profesionales de la salud no solo deben trabajar con el conocimiento que tienen más todo lo contrario se deben enriquecer con actualizaciones y nuevos métodos de manejo de oxigenoterapia , y teniendo en cuenta sus efectos adversos para el adecuado manejo de los neonatos que ingresan la unidad de cuidados intensivos .Este estudio tiene como objetivo Analizar la relación del nivel de conocimiento con las prácticas sobre oxigenoterapia para neonatos de las enfermeras que trabajan en las unidades de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales de la red asistencial del Cusco 2024, dicho trabajo es una investigación cuantitativa , descriptiva correlacional , aplicada a la población en estudio quienes son los licenciados en enfermería que laboran en las unidades de cuidados intensivos de la red Asistencial Cusco en el año 2024, a quienes se les aplicara un cuestionario el cual consta de dos partes reflejando las variables en estudio , la primera parte referida a la primera variable de conocimiento ,se aplicara un cuestionario que contiene 20 interrogantes de respuesta única organizadas en 3 categorías (aspectos generales, etapas del tratamiento con oxígeno y efectos secundarios del uso de oxígeno). En la segunda parte referida a la segunda variable practica que también consta de 20 ítems reflejada en 2 variables valoración y ejecución.

Efficacy of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy versus conventional oxygen therapy to reduce intubation rates in patients with acute respiratory failure

Material and Methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, subjected to critical reading and using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence of the articles published in the following databases: Scielo, Sciencedirect, PubMed, Epistemonikos, Researchgate. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 80% (n= 8/10) are meta-analyses, 20% (n= 2/10) are randomized controlled trials and come from the countries of China (70%), followed by England ( 10%), Germany (10%) and the United States (10%). Results: 80% (n=8/10) indicate that oxygen therapy with high-flow nasal cannula is more effective than conventional oxygen therapy in reducing the intubation rate in patients with Acute Respiratory Failure. 20% (n=2/10) point out that oxygen therapy with high-flow nasal cannula is similar to conventional oxygen therapy in reducing the intubation rate in patients with Acute Respiratory Failure. Conclusion: Oxygen therapy with high-flow nasal cannula is more effective than conventional oxygen therapy in reducing the intubation rate in patients with Acute Respiratory Failure.

Efficacy of Nebulization with 3% Hypertonic Solution Versus 0.9% Saline Solution in Children Under 2 Years of Age With Bronchiolitis

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the use of 3% hypertonic solution versus 0.9% saline solution in children under 2 years of age with bronchiolitis who receive nebulizations. Materials and methods: The type of study is a systematic review, and this is of literature published during the period 2011-2016, 10 articles were selected, subjected to a critical reading, using the GRADE SYSTEM to identify the degree of evidence and strength recommendation of each article. 70% of the articles show that there is effectiveness of a 3% hypertonic solution, since it reduces hospital stay, admission rate, shorter oxygen therapy time, lower economic cost and fewer side effects compared to saline solution 0.9 %. Conclusions: Our study demonstrates a firm evidence base for the use of 3% hypertonic solution in bronchiolitis in children under two years of age, being more effective compared to 0.9% saline solution.

Efficacy of supplemental oxygen therapy to reduce surgical site infections in perioperative patients

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of supplemental oxygen therapy to reduce surgical site infection in perioperative patients. Material and Methods: Retrospective and observational systematic review subject to critical reading and using the GRADE system as an evaluation tool to identify the quality of scientific evidence published in the following information sources Elsevier, Scielo, PubMed and Epistemonikos. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 100% were of high quality as described below: 60% (n= 6/10) are meta-analysis, 10% (n= 1/10) are systematic reviews and 30% (n= 3/10) are randomized controlled trials and belong to the countries of the United States (40%), followed by Denmark (10%), England (10%), China (10%), France (10%), Italy (10%) and Israel (10%). Results: 60% (n=6/10) indicate that supplemental oxygen therapy is effective in reducing surgical site infection in perioperative patients. 40% (n=4/10) indicate that supplemental oxygen therapy is not effective in reducing surgical site infection in perioperative patients. Conclusion: Supplemental oxygen therapy is effective in reducing surgical site infection in perioperative patients.

Knowledge about oxygenotherapy and practice of the nurses of the neonatal intensive care unit in a Cañete hospital –2024

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge about oxygen therapy and the practice of NICU nurses. The research will be developed with a hypothetical deductive method through the quantitative paradigm and a correlational level, the sample will be made up of 45 NICU nursing professionals, in terms of information collection, the survey technique and instruments will be used; a questionnaire to assess knowledge and an observation guide for practice, both of which are validated instruments with a reliability greater than 0.7. After the data collection, the sample responses will be coded, with which an Excel database can be made that will be statistically analyzed by the SPSS 25.0 program, which will provide two analyses; the descriptive one through tables and figures of frequencies and percentages, as well as the inferential ones where the study hypothesis is tested with the Rho Spearman test with a margin of error of 5%.

Methods: The study will be hypothetical-deductive, quantitative, applied , non-experimental, correlational and transversal. The population and sample consisted of 80 nursing professionals, with non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. For the processing and analysis of the survey data, first the information collected will be organized, then coding will be carried out, once the data has been collected, the data will be organized according to its study variables, the data will be processed using the Microsoft Excel 2021 program and SPSS version 26.0 to generate tables and/or graphs by dimensions and indicators of the study variables; also, to determine the relationship with the Spearman Correlation Test (Rho).

Knowledge and management of oxygen therapy in nurses of the adult emergency service of the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital 2022

Currently, oxygen therapy is a frequently used and effective therapeutic form used to treat ventilation/perfusion deficiencies, gas exchange and hypoventilation that cause hypoxemia. However, it is unknown if its effectiveness is linked to the management or practice of the nursing professional. Objective: Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge in oxygen therapy and management by nurses in adult patients in the emergency service Hospital Nacional Hipólito Unanue Lima 2022. Method: The research method was deductive, whose research approach is quantitative. The type of research is also applied, with the research design being non-experimental, transversal, correlational and descriptive model. The population is made up of 30 nurses from the emergency service of the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital and the sample will be equal to the population, that is, 30 nurses from the emergency service of the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital. The instrument used is the questionnaire, considering the Likert scale to obtain quantitative data, with 15 items for each variable. To obtain reliability, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated, resulting in 0.939 for the variable: Level of knowledge in oxygen therapy, a high reliability result, and for the variable: Management by nurses in adult patients, 0.948, a high reliability result. . Finally, the schedule and budget for the development of the research project were determined.

Knowledge and practices on neonatal oxygen therapy among nurses who work in the neonatal intensive care service of a national institute in Lima, 2023

The present research project will have as general objective: To determine the relationship that exists between knowledge and practices on oxygen therapy in neonates in nurses who work in the neonatal intensive care service of a national institute in Lima, 2023. The study population It will be made up of 80 nurses who work in the neonatal intensive care service. The study method used is hypothetical deductive, with a quantitative approach, applied with a nonexperimental design, cross-sectional and correlational level. The technique for variable 1 will be the survey; It is considered in the first instance as a data collection technique through the interrogation of the subjects. In the case of variable 2, the observation technique will be used, which is a fundamental technique of any research process. The researcher relies on it to obtain the greatest amount of data from reality. The analysis results Once the project has been approved by the ethics committee of the postgraduate unit of the Norbert Wiener University, the cover letter will be requested. Then, the permit will be requested by means of a request addressed to the director of the investigated institution. The application of the instruments will be carried out considering the selection criteria proposed through the Kuder Richarson.

Knowledge of oxygen therapy and nursing practice in the neonatology intermediate care unit of the Lima hospital, 2024

The study is applied, using a quantitative approach, a hypothetical-deductive method, and a cross-sectional design classified as non-experimental. It involves 80 nursing staff members who will complete two instruments: a questionnaire measuring professional knowledge by author Quintana in Peru (2019), consisting of 30 items, and a checklist by author Rajo in Peru (2020), consisting of 20 items. Both instruments were validated by their respective authors through expert judgment, with an Aiken's V result of 0.98 for the questionnaire and a binomial test value of 0.0009 for the checklist. In terms of reliability, the first instrument showed α=0.803, and the second instrument demonstrated a Kuder-Richardson value of α=0.889, both highly reliable. Once the instruments are completed, the data will be collected, coded, and stored in a database for statistical analysis using SPSS 25.0. This analysis will involve both descriptive and inferential techniques, including the Spearman test, to verify the proposed hypotheses.

Knowledge of oxygen therapy in neonates and practice of nurses in the neonatology service of a hospital in Lima, 2023

Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and practices on oxygen therapy in neonates among nurses working in the neonatology service in a hospital in Lima in 2023. Methods: A non-experimental design, a quantitative application of methods at a cross-sectional and correlational level, through the use of validated and reliable questionnaires and checklists, among a sample of 60 nursing professionals, will be used. Once applied, the data can be collected, coded and recorded in a database and statistically analyzed by the Spss 25.0 program using descriptive and inferential techniques, the latter validating the research hypotheses through the Spearman test and being able to provide the conclusion of the case.

Health professionals must be familiar with the oxygen administration routes, as well as with the physiological effects of oxygen administration as a fundamental part of patient care, as a study objective we have to determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge about oxygen therapy and the practice of the nursing professional of the emergency service of a private clinic, year 2023, for this, quantitative, descriptive, correlational research was carried out, applied to the study population of this research, it covers all licensed professionals in nursing who work in the emergency service of a private clinic in the year 2023, a questionnaire was applied to them. This instrument has two parts, in the first, it presents a questionnaire (cheklist) to measure the level of knowledge of nurses about oxygen therapy. Instrument 1: Questions 1 to 11 refer to the level of knowledge about oxygen therapy devices. Questions 12 to 17 are focused on the level of knowledge about the parameters in oxygen therapy. Questions 18 to 22 refer to the level of knowledge about techniques and procedures in oxygen therapy. Instrument 2: The technique used to measure the second variable The practice was the questionnaire (cheklist) consisting of the systematic, valid and reliable record of behaviors and observable situations, which has 23 items. Items 1, 2, 3, 4,5 6,7,8,9, are directed towards nursing assessment, and items 10,11,12,13,14, 15,16,17,18 focus on the nursing care.

In 15 million preterm newborns are born worldwide, from which 10% suffer from some type of respiratory disease and will require some of oxygen therapy phase. The objective of the study is “Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice in oxygen therapy of the nursing professional of the neonatal intensive care unit of the Carlos Alberto Seguin Escobedo National Hospital, Arequipa 2023”. The methodology is based on a quantitative approach, cross-sectional design, correlational non-experimental. The population will be made up of 40 nurses from the neonatal intensive care unit. A questionnaire will be used for knowledge in oxygen therapy and an observation guide for practice; the information will be collected with prior informed consent and then the results will be processed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 26. The hypothesis will be verified using the non-parametric chi-square test and likewise, it will be verified if there is a relationship between the study variables.
