Objective: The objective of this study was to identify anatomical variations in the bifid inferior dental canal as evaluated in Cone Beam CT scans in Lima - Year 2022. Methodology: The type of research employed was basic, with a non-experimental, retrospective, cross-sectional, and descriptive design. It had a quantitative approach, and the instrument used for data collection was a data matrix created by the author. The study population consisted of 119 Cone Beam CT scans taken from patients aged 18 to 50 years between 2018 and 2020, with the sample composed of 91 CT scans, considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Since the research is descriptive, it does not present a hypothesis. Results: According to Naitoh’s classification, Type I or retromolar canal prevailed at 7.7% (N=7), followed by Type III or anterior confluence canal at 5.5% (N=5). Regarding sex, bifid dental canals were more frequent in male patients at 7.7%, and in terms of localization, the right side prevailed at 8.8%. Finally, according to age, the highest prevalence was found in patients aged 40 and older at 5.5%. Conclusion: The prevalence of bifid dental canals was 13.2%.

Anterior displacement of the inferior dental canal in adult patients evaluated with Cone Beam tomography, Lima 2019
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-01-05) Remuzgo Ambrosio, Aymé; Mezzich Gálvez, Jorge Luis
This thesis aimed to determine the anterior displacement of the inferior dental canal in adult patients evaluated with Cone Beam CT scans in Lima, 2019. The study was observational, descriptive, and correlational, with a non-experimental design and applied approach. The population consisted of adult patients who underwent Cone Beam CT scans, with a sample of 74 scans selected. Results: The mean anterior displacement was 7.8584 mm, with a minimum of 0.00 mm and a maximum of 18.36 mm. Regarding displacement by sex, 68.9% of cases involved women, and 31.1% involved men. On the right side, the minimum displacement was 0.0 mm, and the maximum was 17.63 mm; on the left side, the minimum was 1.95 mm, and the maximum was 18.36 mm. The average displacement was 7.55 mm on the right side and 8.1601 mm on the left side, with slight differences in their means and medians (6.49 and 7.02, respectively). In terms of displacement grades, partial predominance was observed for grades 1 and 2, while grades 3 and 4 were more prevalent on the left side. Conclusion: The study found a significant relationship between the anterior displacement of the inferior dental canal and sex (p<0.05). However, no significant relationship was found between displacement and its location (right or left side) (p=0.315).

Evaluation of the degree of inclination of the articular eminence and skeletal patterns according to the Steiner ANB angle in Cone Beam tomographies in a radiological center in Lima in the year 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-12-10) Gutiérrez Joo, Anggie Fiorella; Girano Castaños, Jorge Alberto
This study evaluated the comparison of the inclination of the articular eminence and skeletal patterns according to the ANB angle of Steiner in Cone Beam CT scans at a radiological center in Lima in 2021. This is an observational, cross-sectional, retrospective, and analytical study. It employed 112 CT scans from the IDM (Maxillofacial Diagnostic Institute) radiology center database. The sample consisted of individuals aged 20 to 40 years with complete dentition, excluding scans from patients with jaw trauma, fractures, noticeable craniofacial malformations, or facial asymmetries. Data collected included sex, age, and degrees of the inclination of the right and left articular eminence (IEA), as well as skeletal patterns according to Steiner (Class I, II, III). Excel and SPSS were used for statistical analysis. Results showed that Class II (50.28°-49.60°) presented the highest degree of IEA on both the right and left, followed by Class I (44.43°-45.06°), and Class III (34.32°-32.52°) presented the lowest degree. The most frequent skeletal pattern was Class II (40.2%). The average values were Class I (44.77°), Class II (49.94°), Class III (33.52°), and the total average was 42.74°. The average for females was 45.62°, slightly higher than for males at 41.83°. The average for the age group 20 to 30 years was 43.46°, and for 31 to 40 years, it was 45.96°, slightly higher than the younger group. For the right side, the average IEA was 44.21°, similar to the left side at 43.64°. When comparing the location in each skeletal class, no significant difference was found: Class I (p=0.694), Class II (p=0.751), Class III (p=0.241), all with p>0.05. However, a significant difference was found between the IEA degree and each skeletal class, with p=0.000 (p<0.05).

Evaluation of the sagittal position of the root in relation to the accommodation in the bone of the upper jaw with CONE BEAM tomography in the planning of immediate implant in a dental clinic, Lima, 2023
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-06) Vega Molina, Diego Armando; Morante Maturana, Sara Angelica
Immediate implant placement following dental extraction offers several advantages, such as shorter surgery time, protection of the alveolar bone and surrounding tissues, and improved aesthetic outcomes. Objective: To determine the sagittal position of the root in relation to the bone accommodation in the upper maxilla using Cone Beam tomography in the planning of immediate implants. Materials and Methods: A hypothetical-deductive, non-experimental, retrospective, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted on a population of 100 Cone Beam tomography scans, using a data collection sheet as the instrument. Results: It was found that there is statistical significance between the sagittal position of the root and the accommodation in the upper maxillary bone, with p<0.05 (p=0.000), specifically in the sagittal position of the root according to Class I (mean: 0.752), Class II (mean: 0.75), Class III (mean: 0.80), and Class IV (mean: 0.714). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov method (p=0.000) and Cohen's Kappa test (0.815) were also applied. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between the sagittal position of the root and bone accommodation in the upper maxilla using Cone Beam tomography in immediate implant planning according to Kan's classification: Class I, Class II, Class III, and Class IV.
