    Use of the pain-indicating behavior scale for the assessment of pain in critically ill, non-communicative patients subjected to mechanical ventilation.

    systematic review of studies of international origin was carried out, located through the scientific search engines: NCBI, Scopus, PubMed, Scielo, and Elsevier, which were evaluated through the grade system in order to determine the level or degree of evidence. The search was carried out applying DECs and MESH descriptors in Spanish and English respectively. 80% (8/10) of the evaluated studies come from Spain, and the remaining 20% (2/10) from Chile and Brazil respectively. Results: 90% (10/10) of the evidence indicates that the use of the pain indicator behavior scale is effective for assessing pain in critically ill, non-communicative patients on mechanical ventilators, and 10% (1/10) of the evidence indicates that the use of the pain indicator behavior scale is not effective. Conclusions: 09 out of 10 evidences show that the use of the pain indicator behavior scale (is effective for assessing pain in critically ill, non-communicative patients on mechanical ventilators, and 01 out of 10 of the evidences indicate that the use of the pain indicator behavior scale is not effective.
