Ítem Acceso abierto Comparison of the strength of joining fiberglass posts to the root canal of a universal adhesive with and without acid(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-05) Reyes Erquinigo, Carmen Rosa; Nazario Riquero, Renzo NicolásThe objective of this study was to determine the bond strength of fiberglass posts to the root canal using a universal adhesive with and without acid etching. A total of 26 single-rooted premolars were studied. The crowns of the teeth were removed, leaving a root portion length of 14mm. Endodontic treatment was performed, filling 4mm of the canal, followed by biomechanical preparation of the canal for post cementation. The teeth were divided into two groups of 13 teeth each. In the first group, 37% phosphoric acid was applied for 15 seconds, followed by the universal adhesive Ambar (FGM), the All Cem cement (FGM), and the White post fiberglass post (FGM), all according to the manufacturer's recommendations. In the second group, the same protocol was followed, except that acid etching was omitted. Cross-sectional cuts of 1mm were made, with two cuts per third (cervical, middle, and apical). Each cut was tested using a universal testing machine (Pushot) to evaluate bond strength. Results: The average bond strength in the acid-etched group was 8.453 MPa, and in the non-etched group, the average bond strength was 8.76 MPa. Conclusion: No significant differences were found between both groups in terms of bond strength.
