Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: effect of dietary fiber intake on uric acid and creatinine levels in adult patients on hemodialysis(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-20) Paredes Vargas, Zoila Pamela; Ponce Castillo, Diana AntoniaAlthough hemodialysis successfully prolongs and improves the quality of life for renal patients, fiber intake also affects this process by reducing toxins (urea, creatinine, etc.). The clinical question was: What is the effect of dietary fiber intake on uric acid and creatinine levels in adult patients on hemodialysis? Evidence-based nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The search for information was conducted in PUBMED, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS, and SCIENCE DIRECT, yielding 22 articles, 9 of which were selected for evaluation using the CASPE tool. The randomized clinical trial titled "Effects of Fermentable High Fiber Diet Supplementation on Gut-Derived and Conventional Nitrogenous Products in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients" was chosen, with a level of evidence AI and a strong recommendation grade. The critical commentary concluded that a diet enriched with fermentable fiber is suitable for maintenance dialysis patients due to its safety and absence of significant side effects, and it significantly reduces creatinine and uric acid levels.Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of fructose consumption on plasma uric acid levels in subjects with the possibility of metabolic disease(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-04-12) Riveros Gálvez, Ursula Cecilia; Inocente Camones, Miguel AngelThe objective of this work has been to know the nutritional status of patients with a diagnosis of Vesicular Lithiasis, confined in the general surgery service of the low complexity hospital of Lima Este, Vitarte in the period April 2018 - April 2019. 1,393 histories were reviewed. clinics corresponding to the patients who entered the aforementioned service, with 385 people diagnosed with Gallstones; according to the stated objectives, which are of first order; to know the number of patients diagnosed with obesity and overweight who undergo surgery for gallstones and the prevalence between men and women. A descriptive cross-sectional, retrospective study was carried out and once the analysis of the results of the clinical records was carried out, the following conclusions were reached: Gallbladder Lithiasis remained with a higher prevalence in the female sex with a total of 320 patients, represented in 83% of the sample, compared to 17% of the male sex (65 people). It was determined that 67% of the sample were adults (259 people), followed by a young adult population represented in a 20%, that is, 75 patients. Finally, obesity and overweight was a common determinant in the majority of the patients in the study (44%), representing a total of 168 people. Conclusión: se evidencia una relación positiva baja entre el ácido úrico y el índice de masa corporal en pacientes de la etapa de vida adulto atendidos en un hospital nacional en el 2023.Ítem Acceso abierto Serum uric acid level and its relationship with hypertensive disease in pregnancy; Villa el Salvador Emergency Hospital- Lima 2019.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-05-11) Araoz Tuanama, Liz Giorgina; Sandoval Vegas, Miguel HernánHypertension during pregnancy is a common issue and an important public health concern, addressed on both a social level and in our research context, which explores the relationship between serum uric acid levels and hypertensive disease in pregnancy due to its national and global relevance. Objective: To determine the relationship between serum uric acid levels and hypertensive disease in pregnancy at the Villa El Salvador Emergency Hospital, Lima, 2019. Methodology: This was a descriptive, quantitative, retrospective, observational, cross-sectional, and correlational study. Results: Out of 130 cases, 58 pregnant women had no hypertensive disease induced by pregnancy (NO EHE), 12 had (EHE), 51 had hypertensive disease without proteinuria (EHE SP), and 9 had severe hypertensive disease (EHE SEVERE). Serum uric acid values ranged between 1.6-8.0, with a mean of 4.1 ± 1.3. Conclusion: It was concluded that women with EHE have higher serum uric acid levels compared to normal values, with statistically significant differences demonstrated by ANOVA (F=25.983, p=0.000) and Chi-square (Chi2=53.4, p=0.000).
