Materials and Methods: Systematic Reviews are an observational and retrospective research design, which synthesizes the results of multiple primary investigations. They are an essential part of evidence-based nursing due to their rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions of clinical practice. According to the research design, 40% of the evidence is systematic reviews, 50% is randomized controlled trials and 10% is experimental. Therefore, 100% are high quality. Results: Of the total of 10 articles analyzed, 100% affirm that the calcium alginate dressing is effective in varicose ulcers. These articles were found in the following databases Pubmed, Medline, Cochrane, Google Scholar. Conclusions: That 10 of the 10 reviewed investigations show that the use of calcium alginate is effective for the epithelialization process in patients with varicose ulcers.
