This study was carried out with the objective of identifying patients’ knowledge regarding medication storage and disposal at the Santa Clara Health Center. A descriptive study with a quantitative approach was conducted, surveying 320 patients. The findings revealed that knowledge about storage varied significantly. With respect to type of medication, 45.0% of patients demonstrated low knowledge, 32.5% medium, and 22.5% high. Considering pharmaceutical form, 20.3% had low knowledge, 31.3% medium, and 48.4% high. Knowledge about storage according to preservation conditions was low in 45.0% of participants. In terms of disposal practices, 87.2% of patients disposed of medications inadequately by type, and only 12.8% adequately. According to pharmaceutical form, 71.9% disposed of medications inadequately, while 28.1% did so adequately. Based on traditional habits, 65.6% eliminated medications adequately and 34.4% inadequately. In conclusion, 46.3% of patients demonstrated low knowledge regarding medication storage, and the disposal of medications at home was found to be mostly inadequate, reaching 73.4% during the 2022 study period.Publicación Acceso abierto Factores sociodemográficos y la eliminación de productos farmacéuticos en consumidores del mercado San Felipe del distrito de Surquillo, Lima 2024 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-10-27) Machuca Atachahua, Yimmy Walter; Magallanes Pinera, José Victor; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelSociodemographic factors play a critical role in the responsible disposal of pharmaceutical products. The objective of this study is to evaluate the relationship between sociodemographic factors and the elimination of pharmaceutical products in consumers of the San Felipe market in the Surquillo district. The methodological design of the research is basic and is carried out through a hypothetical-deductive approach. It is a quantitative, non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional study. The target population is the consumers of the San Felipe market in the Surquillo district. The sample will be made up of 130 consumers and simple random probabilistic sampling will be used. As a result of the survey, it was obtained that 46.2% are between 40 and 49 years old, 50.8% are women and 49.2% are men; 57.7% have secondary school as their educational level, while only 9.2% have primary school; 30% work in commerce and 22.3% in health, with 2.3% in public functions; 35.4% are single, 19.2% cohabiting and 13.1% married; 26.2% live with their parents and 20% with their spouses, while only 0.8% live with nephews or uncles; 40% work in the private sector, 36.2% in the public sector and 20% as independents; Finally, 94.6% eliminate medications in solid form, 3.8% in semi-solid form and 1.5% in liquid form. Faced with this problem, this study was carried out with the objective of determining the methods of disposal for unused and/or expired medications in households in the Chorrillos district from May to October 2020. The research methodology is non-experimental and cross-sectional, with a quantitative and descriptive approach. For this, surveys were conducted in 291 households in the Chorrillos district. Results showed that the two main reasons for medication disposal are expiration date and being unused, collectively representing 87.7%. The chosen place for disposal is the trash can (89.7%). Regarding disposal practices, only 17.8% properly dispose of liquid medications, and 18.2% properly dispose of solid medications. In conclusion, a large part of the population is unaware of the proper management and final disposal of unused and expired medications, which can negatively affect the environment and the health of the residents of the Chorrillos district.Publicación Acceso abierto Hábitos frente al manejo de medicamentos en los hogares del distrito Mi Perú. It should be noted that most people have little health education regarding the correct storage and disposal of medications. There is generally a custom of keeping leftover medications from prescribed treatments, which are then reused improperly without any control when similar symptoms appear, carrying the consequent risk of ineffectiveness, toxicity, or adverse effects. Therefore, this study was conducted with the objective of evaluating the habits related to medication management in households in the Mi Perú district, Callao, in 2021. Method: The deductive method was used through surveys of 213 residents of the Mi Perú district. Results: 40.4% of the respondents in the district had a fair level of storage and disposal management, while 33.3% did so improperly, and 26.3% had an adequate level. The objective of this study is to analyze the method of disposal of expired pharmaceutical products for older adults residing in a neighborhood of Cajabamba. The research method and design are transversal, descriptive, non-experimental, inductive and quantitative. The target population is made up of an indefinite number of older adults who reside in the Alameda Florida neighborhood. The sample used consists of 113 older adults residing in the same neighborhood. As a result of the survey, 46% of respondents are between 60 and 70 years old, while 44.2% are in the range of 70 to 80 years old, and 9.7% are 80 years old or older. . . In terms of gender, 61.9% of the participants are men and 38.1% are women. Regarding cohabitation, 50.4% live with someone, while 49.6% live alone. Regarding the disposal of medications, 40.7% eliminated capsules, 38.9% opted for the oral suspension and 20.4% eliminated tablets. In addition, 37.2% eliminate blister packs, 34.5% units and 28.3% bottles. Finally, 24.8% of respondents dispose of pharmaceutical products through collection centers, 22.1% through donations and consumption, and only 8% use other disposal methods. Using an inductive method, surveys were administered to 336 residents of Puente Piedra and 336 residents of San Borja. The surveys also aimed to determine whether the participants' educational level and/or socio-demographic status influenced their knowledge about the disposal of expired and non-expired medications. Methodology: This was a hypothetical-deductive study with a quantitative approach, an applied type, and a non-experimental, observational, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 385 households, selected by probabilistic sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire for knowledge and a Likert scale for attitude. Both instruments were validated by expert judgment and deemed reliable (KR-20 = 0.676 and Cronbach's α = 0.784). Results: 48.3% had a medium level of knowledge. A significant difference was found between the level of knowledge and age, educational level, and profession or occupation (p<0.05). 93.2% had a positive attitude, and this was significantly correlated with sex and educational level (p<0.05). Finally, a relationship exists between the level of knowledge and attitude toward medication disposal practices (p=0.000 and contingency coefficient 0.345). The objective was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the method of disposing of expired or unused medication waste in households in the Los Olivos district. The methodology was non-experimental, cross-sectional, and quantitative, and it was tested in 302 households. Results showed that 91.4% of households exhibited poor disposal practices for medication waste and had a low level of knowledge. Regarding public health, 92% had a high level of knowledge. In terms of pharmaceutical forms, 64.3% of households had poor disposal methods due to low knowledge, while 37.4% had a medium level of knowledge of medication waste storage and used good disposal methods. En este contexto, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre la preservación del ecosistema y la conservación y eliminación de fármacos líquidos utilizados por los pobladores del Asentamiento Humano Edilberto Ramos, ubicado en el distrito de Villa El Salvador durante el año 2026. La investigación fue de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo básico, con diseño no experimental, transversal y correlacional. La población estuvo conformada por 335 pobladores, de los cuales se seleccionó una muestra de 179 participantes mediante muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple. La recolección de datos se realizó mediante una encuesta estructurada basada en una escala de Likert de cinco niveles. Los datos fueron procesados utilizando el programa estadístico SPSS, aplicando estadística descriptiva y la prueba de correlación Rho de Spearman, debido a que los datos no presentaron distribución normal según la prueba de Kolmogorov-Smirnov. Los resultados evidenciaron que el 48,0 % de los participantes presentó un nivel alto de preservación del ecosistema, mientras que el 34,6 % presentó un nivel medio de conservación y eliminación de fármacos líquidos. Asimismo, se encontró una relación positiva y estadísticamente significativa entre ambas variables (rho = 0,107; p < 0,05). Se concluye que las prácticas de conservación y eliminación de fármacos líquidos en los hogares se relacionan significativamente con la preservación del ecosistema, evidenciando la necesidad de fortalecer estrategias de educación sanitaria y gestión adecuada de residuos farmacéuticos.
