Ítem Acceso abierto Psychosocial factors and intention to serve vulnerable and neglected populations by dentistry students of the Norbert Wiener Private university in Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-12) Aponte Solano, Benaventurada; Gómez Carrión, Christian EstebanThe objective of this study was to analyze the psychosocial factors and their influence on the intention to serve vulnerable and underserved populations by dental students at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener in Lima during 2023. A cross-sectional design was used with 120 participants who completed a questionnaire on their experience with access to dental care, psychosocial factors, and service intention. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics. The results revealed that 83.3% of students demonstrated a medium level of knowledge regarding psychosocial factors. Additionally, 96% showed a medium level of confidence, and 72.2% scored medium in terms of previous behaviors in the psychosocial field. However, most respondents rated their attitude as "poor." Regarding the intention to serve vulnerable and underserved populations, 68.3% and 69% of participants expressed their intention as "regular," respectively. However, it is noteworthy that 28.6% and 29.4% of students expressed a "good" intention to serve these populations, indicating a significant commitment in this area.
