    Treatment of severely worn teeth

    The purpose of this study is to review the literature on the different dental treatments currently used for severely worn teeth. Currently, minimally invasive and/or adhesive treatment concepts are applied using various materials developed over the past years to preserve dental structure. This review highlights the application of diagnostics, the use of models, diagnostic waxing, and the registration of Centric Relation (CR) for the treatment of severely worn teeth. Additionally, occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) is evaluated before and during the restorative treatment, integrated with digital dentistry. Various restorative treatment options exist for severely worn teeth, with the most common being direct and indirect composite resin restorations, followed by ceramics, often utilizing CAD/CAM technology. Preventive measures, including counseling and monitoring, should also be prioritized to ensure long-term success.
