Publicación Acceso abierto Dolor crónico y estado funcional en personas adultos mayores atendidas en el Centro de Atención Primaria II Huanta – ESSALUD 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-23) Alvarez Lavalle, Cruz del Rosario; Hermoza Moquillaza, Rocío VictoriaThe objective of this research was to "Determine the relationship between chronic pain and the functional status of the elderly at the II Huanta - Essalud 2023 primary care center ". Study with a quantitative correlational approach of a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 200 older adults from the Primary Care Center II Huanta - Essalud. The technique used for data collection was the survey, the instrument used was a questionnaire that included 11 questions: Barthel Index ten items and one question to measure the intensity of pain (VAS). Among the results, it was found that 44.7% of older adults suffer from functional dependency, of which 43.2% correspond to the level of mild dependency. A relationship was found between chronic pain and functional status according to the chi-square test with p=0.028. Regarding the ten dimensions of functional status, the activity of walking and going to the bathroom are related to chronic pain with p=0.003; p=0.044, respectively. Activities such as dressing, eating, washing, grooming and stool-urine control are not related to chronic pain. Conclusion: Activities that demand greater balance and use of motor skills, such as walking, going to the bathroom, using it, and returning to the place, are associated with chronic pain in older adults.
