Ítem Acceso abierto Risk of low birth weight in infants born to adolescent mothers versus adult mothers(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-16) Abrego Botin, Elizabeth Haydee; Márquez Vivanco, Delia Esther; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioSystematic observational and retrospective quantitative review of 10 articles, subjected to critical selection, using the Grade evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence, found in the following databases: Scielo, Lilacs, Medline, Bvs and Pubmed. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 60% (n=6/10) are cohort studies, 30% (n= 3/10) are case-control studies and 10% (n= 1/10) are systematic review studies. According to the results obtained from the systematic review carried out in the present study, the articles come from Chile (20%), Brazil (20%), Sub-Saharan Africa (20%), Colombia (10%), England (10%), Peru (10%) and Mexico (10%). Likewise, of the evidence found, 80% (n=8/10) agree that children born to adolescent mothers have low birth weight and 20% (n=2/10) of studies demonstrate that there was no difference between newborns of teenage mothers in relation to children of mothers over 20 years of age. There is a risk of low birth weight in children born to teenage mothers, which leads to having lower anthropometric development in the future.
