Objectives Systematize evidence on the effectiveness of subglottic aspirations for reducing pneumonia in patients with mechanical ventilation. Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search was based exclusively on articles with full text, and the chosen studies were subjected to a critical reading, based on the GRADE evaluation to identify their level of evidence. In the selection, 10 articles were chosen, of which 20% (2/10) correspond to the United States, 20% (2/10) Australia, 10% (1/10) to India, 20% (2/10) ) Canada, 10% (1/10) China, 10% (1/10) France and 10% (1/10) Belgium. Of these there are 2 systematic reviews, 4 meta-analyses, 3 clinical trials and 1 control study, all of high quality. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% (10/10) demonstrated that aspiration of subglottic secretions reduces the incidence of pneumonia and edema problems compared to tracheal aspirations. Conclusions: It was shown that aspiration of subglottic secretions is effective in reducing the risk of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation.

Cell phones as sources of pathogens and their risk in hospital-acquired infections in the intensive care unit“ “Cell phones as sources of pathogens and their risk in hospital-acquired infections in the intensive care unit
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-01-09) Gonzalez Janampa, Marizol Modesta; Vélez Lamela, Rosario del Pilar; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette Giselle
Cell phones are frequently used by healthcare workers during working hours and are not properly disinfected. Cell phones are susceptible to contamination by bacterial pathogens and could be involved in nosocomial transmission. Cell phones are perfect for functioning as reservoirs of nosocomial pathogens due to their wide use in healthcare units and the lack of disinfection care. This is why we conducted this research to determine whether cell phones constitute a reservoir of nosocomial pathogens and could potentially constitute a fomite for these pathogens in a hospital environment. Bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli have been reported to remain viable for long periods and are an important source of infection. One of the measures to avoid hospital infections is also to strictly apply the usual measures such as hand washing and asepsis when handling cell phones, since the frequency of disinfection of cell phones is scarce since most people do not disinfect their cell phones.

Objective: To systematize the evidence on the clinical benefits of the seasonal influenza vaccine in pregnant women. Materials and Methods: A systematic review of 10 scientific articles found on the clinical benefits of the seasonal influenza vaccine in pregnant women was conducted using the following databases: Cochrane, LILACS, Scielo, Medline, and PubMed. All articles were analyzed according to the GRADE scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. It was found that 50% (5) were from the United States, and 10% (1) each were from Mexico, Taiwan, Atlanta, Bangladesh, and Thailand, respectively. Results: Of the total articles analyzed, 100% demonstrate that the seasonal influenza vaccine provides clinical benefits to pregnant women. Conclusions: All 10 articles provide evidence of the clinical benefits of the seasonal influenza vaccine in pregnant women, as it provides antibodies against the flu during pregnancy by reducing serum hemagglutination inhibition responses obtained through immunization. Additionally, for babies, the vaccine offers significant fetal and neonatal benefits, such as increased birth weight, reduction in low birth weight, preterm birth, prevention of fetal death, and reduction in respiratory illnesses.

Dietary knowledge and nutritional status of hemodialysis patients at a hospital in Lima, 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-07-24) Alva Nestares, Violeta Consuelo; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette Giselle
An important aspect to consider in renal patients is nutrition, taking into account both the composition and the quantity of the foods that make up their diet. The quantity and quality of macronutrients and micronutrients they consume should be proportional to the energy expenditure, largely determined by the physical activity they engage in. The accumulation of nitrogenous substances, as well as sodium, potassium, phosphorus, and fluids in the body, leads to imbalances and damage. This quantitative, observational, correlational, and cross-sectional study aims to determine how dietary knowledge in hemodialysis patients is related to their nutritional status. The study will include the entire population of renal patients undergoing hemodialysis three times a week at a hospital in Lima. Participants will complete the Dietary Knowledge in Hemodialysis Questionnaire (CCDH) for Patients in Peru. Additionally, anthropometric measurements and laboratory data from the medical records will be taken, and the patients will undergo a screening called the Objective Nutritional Score in Dialysis (ONSD). The results will be analyzed using SPSS version 25, employing both descriptive and inferential statistics. To determine the correlation between variables, the Spearman correlation coefficient will be used.
