Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between sedentary behavior and sleep quality in older adults at the Callao Rehabilitation Hospital - Bellavista, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-29) Carbajal Yachachin, Leslie Paola; Rodriguez Garcia, Rosa VicentaThe world is undergoing a demographic transition, leading to a higher proportion of older adults in the population. Due to the current health emergency caused by COVID-19, Peru was declared in a “State of Emergency,” with mandatory quarantine and social distancing measures, affecting the quality of life of individuals. The most vulnerable population, older adults, developed a sedentary lifestyle, decreased and/or altered sleep patterns, among other issues, resulting in a series of negative consequences. Sedentary behavior is defined as "not engaging in physical activity or doing so less than three times per week and/or less than 20 minutes each time." Sleep quality not only refers to sleeping well at night but also includes proper daytime functioning. One of the provinces with the highest population growth and the largest projected increase in the older adult population is the Constitutional Province of Callao. Due to the current environment, the question arises whether there is a relationship between sedentary behavior and its impact on the quality of sleep in the older adult population.
