Publicación Acceso abierto Relación de la motivación y el aprendizaje de la microbiología en estudiantes de cuarto y quinto año de Farmacia y Bioquímica de una universidad privada. Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-02-27) Huarcaya Chávez, Noemí Lizbet; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelThis research aimed to determine the relationship between motivation and the learning of microbiology among fourth- and fifth-year students of the School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry at a private university in Lima, during 2023. The study followed a basic research approach at a descriptive–correlational level, employing a hypothetical–deductive method with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 530 students, from which a sample of 225 participants was selected. Data collection was carried out through two structured questionnaires: one assessing motivation and the other measuring microbiology learning. The results revealed that 72.4% of students presented high levels of motivation, while 56.9% achieved a high level of microbiology learning. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant association between these two variables (p < 0.05), with a direct and moderate correlation (Rho = +0.602). Furthermore, 78.7% of students reported high intrinsic motivation, which showed a significant and moderate positive correlation with learning (p < 0.05, Rho = +0.524). Similarly, 50.7% exhibited high extrinsic motivation, which was also significantly and moderately correlated with learning (p < 0.05, Rho = +0.565). In conclusion, the findings confirm that higher levels of motivation—both intrinsic and extrinsic—are associated with greater microbiology learning. Therefore, a direct and statistically significant relationship exists between the two variables under study.
