Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital – Essalud, 2019. Materials and methods: It was a study with a basic quantitative approach, non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional design. Results: A total of 100 nurses who work in the emergency service of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital participated. Two questionnaires were used to observe the relationship between both variables. Workload was indirectly and significantly related to job satisfaction of emergency service nursing professionals (rho=-0.289, p=0.004). Mental workload was indirectly and significantly related to job satisfaction of emergency service nursing professionals (rho=-0.366, p=0.000). The organization of the service was indirectly and significantly related to the job satisfaction of emergency service nursing professionals (rho=-0.230, p=0.021). Conclusions: There is an indirect and significant relationship between workload and job satisfaction (p=0.004, rho= -0.289) in nursing professionals from the emergency service of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital – Essalud in 2019; That is, the greater the workload (medium and high), the less job satisfaction (medium).
